Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jason Scott Zunker
To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Zunker, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Zunker. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
To his wife ~ you may not believe that you will be able to survive this tragedy, but you will. The first few days and weeks are tremendously difficult, but as time goes by it does get easier to bear. You are not on this journey alone, there are many other police widows who share your pain and we are all here for you. Take care.

Jason started as a reserve officer in our department. As Jail Administrator, I hired Jason full time to work in the jail. He did an excellent job for us and when a road opening came up, it was with regret that I watched him go out to patrol. At the same time, however, I knew that was where his heart was. He loved the road, and having worked it myself for many years prior, I could understand his love for it. He did an excellent job and always gave that little extra, the mark of an outstanding, caring officer. We all need to pray for his family and help them in any way possible. The devastation such a tragedy causes is immeasurable. He will never be forgotten. Thank you for your service and may we never forget !!
