I worked with Jason at Lake Nebagamon Trucking, back when we were in high school together. Everyone loved "Zunk"! He always had a smile on his face, and gave me many rides home. That was Zunk, always helping somebody out, even though I lived in the opposite direction from me. I never had the pleasure of meeting his wife, but I remember hearing through the grapevine that he got married and being happy that he found someone to spend his life with. My deepest sympathies to his family. May God provide you with strength and comfort as only He can.

Zunker gave me wonderful advice when I first started out. I've always looked up to Zunker, I remember everytime I seen him, he always had a smile and lots to talk about. Everytime I heard "471, county" my ears where sure to tune in to see what he was up to. I'll never forget the way he always seemed happy to say "471...county...10-24, 10-8!" I wish there was some way to tell him I hope I become half the officer he was. I'll miss you Zunker...(like you always use to call me) "Little Hakesy"

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fellow officers of Deputy Zunker during the very difficult time. To Jason's parents~our thoughts are especially with you...parents should not have to bury their children. This type of sudden, tragic, senseless loss is so devastating. I hope you find some peace and comfort in the wonderful memories of your son and his accomplishments. He's a hero who put his life on the line to protect others. Now he'll be walking the heavenly beat and still watching over all of his loved ones. We feel your pain. God Bless.
