Reflections for Corporal Courtney G. Brooks

I worked with Courtney when he was stationed at BWI for several years. I also worked with his Fiance Susan. He was
such a fun person, always keeping you laughing. He will be missed by all of us here at BWI. My heart goes out to Susan and their beautiful children.

Words cannot express the loss we have all felt having you taken away from us so suddenly and without reason. I want to thank you for the bottom of my heart for your service and dedication to our agency. We have a huge void in our hearts that could never be filled. I hope you know your entire family will be in my thoughts and prayers each and every day. Rest easy brother, we'll take it from here. Your work on earth is done but your presence will always be felt. Keep watch constantly over your family and let them know you are with them always. Your humor will certainly be missed but I know you'll give them all good laughs in heaven. It will never be goodbye.... until we meet again...

To my fallen comrade and friend. I still can't believe your gone i was just in bulk package training with you.I will never forget that night when you,me,Windmond,Beam and Belcher went to fells point on Beams boat. We even got you to sing Karaoke after a few drinks, that was the most fun i had in a long time. When we all worked on the same squad we had alot of good times. A bunch of your coworkers and i went out to Dellis bar last night to remember you. It was a good turnout. Beam,Belcher and i talked about our night out on the boat alot, we told everyone about how much fun we had. You were my coworker and most of all my friend. I would like to express my sorrow to your family at this time of loss. You were taken way too young my friend. May you rest in peace

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I did not know you but a few of my friends did as well as my fiance, GOD BLESS YOU and you may be gone but NEVER forgotten, rest in peace and thank you for all that you have done!!

Cpl Brooks
Thank you for your service, rest in peace my brother. Watch over the rest of us from your heavenly perch.

To the Family of Cpl Brooks
Your complete family are in my families prayers during this dark time. My family is just starting to make it thru a lost of our own with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now or believe you can shed so may tears and words of condolence does not fill the emptiness in your heart right now. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. Courtney will always be with you, that gentle wind that dries your tears, that warm feel of an embrace when no one is near is his way of helping you heal.

To the Maryland Transportation Police
My family in blue this lost will always be felt at roll call, on the road or just talking at a break. For those that were on the scene, understand that nothing you did or things you felt you should have done would have changed this out come, God had called Cpl Brooks. Like all of us that wear a badge, he knew the risk and like yourself served regardless, mourn your brother, but also dedicate your service in his name by being the best you possible can. Your Department are in my families prayers also.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office

At 11:00 PM I was on my way to Baltimore to celebrate the new year, my family pass this officer and his coworkers putting out cones, we had no idea that in less then an hour one of them would senselessly die.

Its a terrible tragedy, my heartfelt condolences go out to the family, thank you for your dedication and service to the community.

Courtney,
I would like to THANK YOU for the service that you provide to the people of Maryland. While watching the news tonight, it was mentioned by your uncle about how much of a jokester that you are, that is so true. You are such a wonderful person, so much fun to be around. Now it is time for you to continue your fun with the others who have been taken from us. Tell Duke, Grant and Bob we will never forget. It was a pleasure working with you but more importantly it was a blessing to have known you.

'Til we meet again my friend
