Policeman's 23rd Psalm:

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught,
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God",
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley,
Right up to the door, I will fear no evil,
For He comforts me more.
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies,
He gives me authority to uphold the Law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity,
As long as I hear Him say "Well done..,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.
Amen
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family.

I didn't know you personally, Deputy McDonald, but I was at your memorial service and witnessed the love and respect that so many people have for you. From what they said today would've been your 30th birthday. I know it has been difficult for your wife and son to make it through these first few milestones w/o you (Christmas, New Years, your birthday) but I think that you would be proud to see the support that I saw being offered to them. Happy Birthday, Deputy McDonald, and thank you for everything you did for Bibb County.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy McDonald. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Chad, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Chad's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Chad's life was about so much more than the way he died. Chad will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy McDonald, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years.

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last.

To the Family of Deputy McDonald

Your complete family are in my families prayers and god bless you. This is a dark time, but there is light at end of this tunnel and your heart will heal. My family is working thru the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now or believe you can shed so may tears. What has helped my family and may help yours, remember your love ones laugh, his smile and all those things that are unique to him, since they are truly what made him. Chad will always be with you, that gentle wind that dries your tears, that warm feel of an embrace when no one is near is his way of helping you heal. Just look for the signs, they will be small and are only for you.
