Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Chad McDonald
Deputy McDonald, a part of America died with you the day of your passing. It was truly a day of mourning for all Law Enforcement Officers when the sad news spread of the accident which took your life. May God watch over Lakeycha and Tyler, guide and protect them throughout their lives until you are reunited at the Golden Gates of heaven. May God also help the fellow officers of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office through the passing of Deputy McDonald and the most recent passing of Deputy Thomas as these are most difficult times. Thank you for your dedicated service to the community you chose to protect and those lives that you touched during your service. Rest in peace brother. To Lakeycha and Tyler, please try to find some comfort in knowing that Chad’s sacrifice and memory will never be forgotten and shall live for eternity by his brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement even though many of us were not blessed with the opportunity to know him.

Your presence is truly being missed by Tyler and I. These last couple days have been really hard for me, with the passing of Deputy Thomas and other things I refused to mention. Chad,
I just got a call from Deputy Defoe informing me of the passing of Deputy Mike Thomas. My heart is so sadden of the news. All I can think of how proud he was to ride his motorcycle in the Blue Knights memorial ride in your honor. He rode with pride and to honor you in the ride made me so pride to see a department still care in your memory. When Mike make it to those golden gates with you and Joe, tell him I said thank you from the entire McDonald Family. You are truly missed chad.

Hi love,
The blue knights motorcycle ride that honor all the fallen officer for 2007 were very amazing and so awsome. Your co-workers from Bibb County represented you in a big way and you would have been so proud. I was so proud of them also. There were so many motorcycle and patrol cars you wouldn't believed it. Once again wanted to just tell you. It was so amazing.
Love you,

My Dearest Chad,
Its 0332 a.m. and I can't sleep so I decided to look through our family pictures. I came across the picture of you holding Tyler in your arms just after he were born and to see how happy you were brought tears to my eyes then and still bring tears to my eyes now. I visit your grave daily just tell you I love you, just to ask god why, just to scream in silence, and to sit on the ground and cry. I know you said we will be taken care of by one of your own, but when reality hits its nothing like having you home. At the end of the day or in the middle of the night, I keep telling myself god make no mistakes and he only accept the best and he accepted you Chad.
Love,
Lakeycha

Lakeycha and Tyler, although I don't know you and I did not know Chad I wanted to tell you that I'm thinking about you and saying prayers for Chad. They say time heals all wounds and I guess some do, but I know that Wonderful Memories are forever and they can never be taken away. God Bless you and your son.

Oh, How I remember the last conversation we had some 2 years ago. I thank God that memory will linger on. You are a friend I dred to loose. Your heart was pure and your words so genuine. It's been a pleasure to know you and even greater joy to share memories with you. You will always hold a special place in our hearts and in our minds. May your family find peace at yet a sorrowful time in their lives. The lord will continue to bless them as he has done you. I love you and the Dooly County Class of 1996 will always love you. Your service here is done and we thank you for all you have done to make our world a greater place. Until we meet again. Amen!!

I remember being on the junior varsity basketball team with Chad and winning our first game. We all were very proud and happy. We also was on the varsity basketball team together. We would often laugh because we didn't get to play. Chad had a good sense of humor and he was a great classmate. He will be truly missed. My condolences goes out to his wife and family.
