My heart goes out to the Family, Girlfriend and fellow Officers of Officer Nicholson. Unfortunately there are no answers for why this has happened, so unfair to take away someone who was so good, but know that you are not alone. You have been in my thoughts every day.

REST IN PEACE BROTHER.

POLICE OFFICER RENE SANCHEZ
BOSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT, BOSTON MA.

I had the honor of going through the western Maryland police academy (class of 39) with Chris. I don't know if I would have made it through without Chris' support. I have never seen one person so dedicated to accomplish his goals. When everything was against him, Chris would push on. Nobody was going to tell Chris that he could not be a Police Officer. If I had to clear the most dangerous house on the block I would want Chris to be right there with me. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fiancée. Rest in peace my brother. I know you will watch over and protect me on those dark days.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Nicholson, especially to his girlfriend. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Christopher, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Christopher's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Christopher's life was about so much more than the way he died. Christopher will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Nicholson, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Our Hero, thats how I will remember you forever. I wish we were closer in the past few years like we were when we were kids. I remember spending the weekends with you and Ryan on Cindy Lane, watching Ghostbusters. We were so close then but life takes us in different directions and we see very little of each other for one reason or another. I am grateful that I got a chance to see you in June at your Moms house. I think of you often and pray for our family to have the strength to get through this. I miss you so very much and know you are in good hands. May you rest in peace and never be forgotten. Love you and God Bless!

Christopher would like to be remembered for his undying love and appreciation for all his family and friends. He would be grateful for the time that he was able to spend with each and everyone, for they were all special to him, in each in their own way. Each person that he would encounter, he would try to treat with respect and dignity. I know he would like to thank each and everyone who had helped him to overcome his many challenges in being able to pursue his life’s dream of becoming a police officer and all that he was able to accomplish in life.

Luke 9:46-48
“Now came an argument among them (Jesus’ disciples) as to which of them would be the greatest [in the coming Kingdom]! But Jesus knew their thoughts, so he stood a little child beside him and said to them, “Anyone who takes care of a little child like this is caring for me! And whoever cares for me is caring for the God who sent me. Your care for others is the measure of your greatness.””

I was never so excited to become an aunt with the birth of Christopher. I would dress him in his little green sleeper that I got for him and with his red tinged hair, I would call him my little leprechaun O’Hara. When he was 5 weeks old and after his open-heart surgery that he was only given a slim chance of survival, I spent the night with Christopher at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I carried him in my arms to try and offer him some comfort and the whole time I was there I never put him down. I would look up into the heavens of the night sky and pray that if a life had to be taken, that it be mine and not his. Fortunately I was able to watch him grow into a beautiful soul and very special young man that I was so proud of. My only regret is that I was not in that field with him and able to hold him and say the same prayer that I prayed so many years ago.

As we communicated in our Family Statement previously in these Reflections, Christopher was a very special person. Our love, thoughts and prayers go out to all who have kept us and Christopher close to their hearts this past week. We could not have made it without you. You don't know how many times we have gotten out of bed at 3:00 am to read these reflections for comfort. We are especially thankful to the thousands of police agencies across this good earth who have sent their condolences and prayers. To the hundreds of police officers that traveled away from their own families this Christmas, to personally share in our grief and love for Christopher and attend Christopher's services, we are forever in your debt. May Christopher, Saint Michael and the Good Lord continue to watch over you and Bless You All!

Ofc. Christopher S. Nicholson,
I can only thank you for your sacrifice and for the service you provided your fellow citizens. From everything that I've learned about you in a short period of time it seemed you were the perfect person in the perfect job. You'll be missed amongst your family, friends, fellow officers and most certainly by your soul mate. Please continue to watch over us as we continue your work.

Chris served Smithsburg with the upmost quality of protection. He was known as a gentle giant to most of our local community and his tragic loss will continue to keep his fellow brothers and sisters in arms vigilant of the perils they face on a constant basis. His length of service was untimely short but his memory will be much longer.
---I, along with hundreds of others, was deeply honored to attend your funeral and you will always have our hearts. RIP, Brother...you will be greatly missed.

Your act of courage will never be forgotten. Not only for the fact that you where in the middle of a bad situation but aslo for the fact that you wanted to join in the fight of law enforcement in the first place. For that you will never be forgotten. Your tour is over now, rest. We've got it. My sympathy to the family in and out of law enforcement.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Nicholson, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
