Reflections for Police Officer William Eric Freeman
There are no words for this. A coward took a Father from his children, a Husband from his wife. Rest in peace brother and may this coward be delt with by the hands of men and ultimately by the hands of God. My deepest thoughts are with your family tonight. We have the watch.

A Policeman was called to duty and had to
leave his home,
He kissed his wife and kids and promised
he wouldn't be long,
He donned his gear and as he
walked away,
He heard his kids ask
“Will daddy be going to stay?”
She held them close, kisses
and hugs all night,
Daddy will only be gone awhile
he'll call tonight,
She shouted to her Policeman,, “remember
we're in your heart”,
With a single tear she whispered
we’re never far apart,
A brave Policeman with a picture of his family
in his hand,
A father, a husband,
a dedicated family man.
He stood before the throne and
judgment was handed down,
Stand tall mighty policeman, I have your
well deserved crown,
Times were tough and you
fought well,
You fought for the people
you fought in Hell,
Stand with me as you did
for strangers, friends and alike,
For every race, creed, and color,
you tried to be a light,
Worry not for your family, I will see them
through,
My grace will be there with them always
this I do for you,
You have a place here on heavens
streets,
You gun and vest, you no longer
need.

Eric, I thanked God for you more than you will ever know. Being a single parent ,you befriended my boys and love them as they were your own. They loved weekends at your house, swimming, football, paintball, wrestling, and the best Halloween Parties.... You were a great role model. This is a tragic lost to all of us. But you will never be forgotten.
Thank-You for being a part of our lives Eric. We will always Love You. Tammy, Brandon, Jeremy

Eric, I will miss talking to you on the radio. When I started at HPD, you were fresh out of the academy and we made for a lot of interesting radio traffic since we were new. I always knew if I said something silly on the radio, that phone would be ringing within 30 seconds and it would be your fast, excited voice on the other end giving me hell. We shared a lot of laughs, and it was your since of humor (not to mention mischieviousness) that make my job fun. I'll never forget the time you went 10-69 on that Rooster....or the lame jokes about why the rooster crossed the road. I will miss you and our jokes. B410.....4-10!

Once again we hear the news of one our own shot down. Once again we rush to the hospital in hopes that he will be okay. Once again we stand in the hallways of the Emergency Room hugging each other and praying that it will not turn out the same. Once again we see his family escorted to his side. Once again we are crushed to hear the news that our Brother has fallen. Once again we drape our badges in respect for our Fallen Brother. Once again we try to be strong for our own and his family. Once again we watch over our Brother while we prepare him for Burial. Once again we watch over his Family at their side for they have lost all. For they will no longer have Eric for Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgivings, Anniversaries and all those little moments that we take for granted. They have lost a husband, father and son. Once again we polish our boots and put on our Class A Uniforms. Once again we meet and line up our Patrol Vehicles. Once again we proceed in procession down the highway. Once again we gather in a Church to honor our own in Gods House. Once again we go to the Cemetery, stand and salute and Bury our Friend and Fallen Hero. Once again we file away in small groups and try to understand why this happened. Once again we look to each other for strength. Once again we wait while the courts take forever to meet out Justice. Once again we answer our calls together, look out for each other and remember that we are all that stands between chaos and peace. Once Again.
Rest in Peace Brother for you are in Heaven watching over all of us.

This is a tough time for all of us at Huntsville Police. I cant imagine the pain for the Freeman family. I have and will constantly continue to pray for the family. It feels wrong to be at work and to drive a police car it almost feels disrespectfull, however we must. We will continue to honor you the rest of our lives.
