Brother Freeman,
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Rest in Peace brother and thank-you for your service.

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Thank you for serving the city of Huntsville well and for keeping us safe. My close relatives lost a fellow officer Chief of Police Verlon LeMaster back in 2003 in the line of fire so my prayers go out to the family of officer Freeman. Also my thoughts are with the entire Huntsville Police department, keep strong and continue to keep the streets of this great city safe just like Officer Freeman did for us all.

Freeman I always had so much respect for you because of how hard you worked and the great attitude you had towards life. I remember working the desk with you this summer and you talking to your kids on the phone and also messing around with you in a Spanish class you always had me laughing.I also keep thinking about joking around with you in booking just a few days ago man. It seems that God only takes the very best from us to be with him. You will be missed by us all and never forgotten.

Thirty-seven years without an officer dying in the line of duty at the Huntsville Police Department.. Now we are mourning our second officer killed in the line of duty in two years... Daniel Golden, my friend and partner E.O.W. on 08-29-2005. Now my friend and fellow officer Eric Freeman killed in the line of duty on 12-15-2007.. When Daniel died I almost quit, and I have had the same thoughts now.. But, this is what we do, what we love and who we are thats why I nearly worked for three straight days when Eric was taken from us just a few days ago..
Eric, I simply do not have the words to say other than I love you and I loved training and answering calls with you. Many of the officers are hurting so bad right now, but like always we are holding each other up from the top down.
To Leslie and the kids, we all love you guys and will continue to stand by your side. God Speed Officer Eric Freeman we will miss you and God bless your Family.

It's Hogan again. The more time passes the more I just have to accept the reality. I get sick to my stomach every now and then thinking about it all. Things are never going to be the same. I know that since we got permanently assigned that I only saw you sporadically, but you always had the smile, and when we were in booking something goofy to say!
Remember the time in the Academy when you were helping with my pull-ups and were pulling my belt loop to help me up, and the loop ripped. Those pants still don't wear right. Or how about the self inflicted hair cut, I swear you used a bowl. I remember the day you went to go get your marriage license from the courthouse, that was Friday of ARCON week they let you cut out early so you could get there before the courthouse closed. Remember SWAT week, the fire tower, and how hungry you were?
The last time I talked to you was before the Tennessee-LSU game, Tennessee blew it, I told you they would. There is enough orange on my tree this year though, I am going to make sure there is some purple and gold on it from now on. Geaux Tigers!
Brother you will be missed. I love ya!

We all have experienced such aching of sorrow in our hearts this week. There are not words to truly illustrate the depth of this tragedy. Our thoughts are with your family. Although we do not understand everything we endure in this lifetime, it is like a grain of sand in eternity. Keep your eyes fixed on the Lord and he will provide you with peace.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.

To Officer Freeman's Wife, Children and Brothers and Sisters of the Huntsville Police Department,

I am the wife of a fallen officer. My husband was killed in the line of duty Feb. 21 of this year. I know what you are all going through and Officer Freeman has died a true Hero and he is very much respected and loved. I feel for what you are going through and I just want you to know how sad I am to get on this site and see officers continously being added. To you Officer Freeman, God Speed. You patrol those streets of Gold, your brothers and sisters will take it from here. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew Officer Freeman and maybe now, him and my husband are amoung the angels protecting the rest of our officers!

Eric,
Although you were taken from us way too soon, you left a lasting impression on all who knew you. I remember the days when I would be in A-3 and you would be in B-1 or 2. You'd cross over Pratt and we'd 65 for a few minutes. I'd harrass you about "poaching" over on North and you would harrass me about coming to play paintball with you. I'm sorry I didn't get that chance. I'm sure I'll see you again and we'll have that game. I know you were watching from above as we celebrated your life and you made us all proud to work beside you. Thank you Eric.

This is horrible news. I grew up in the great town of Huntsville-Southside specifically and used to ride my bike up and down the sidewalks of Bailey Cove and Weatherly Road on a daily basis in the 80's. What happened to this fine Officer is both a disgrace to his family and to that community. I rest assured that this drunk with a Handgun pays for the life he chose to take. Thank You Officer Freeman for your service. You will never be forgotten. "Absent from the body is present with the Lord." You without a doubt fulfilled the full meaning of the word HERO!
