R.I.P Donta. "Tree" man you were the greatest. I remeber going on ride alongs with you. Going to calls with you and other Deputies, and seeing you as I passed trough the halls inside district 5 sub-station. You were so awsome and funny. Donta I can't belive your gone man. I still can't help but laugh when I think about the time you asked me to move your patrol car when we were out on that 10-50 then you thought about it and said you would do it yourself. The sad part about it though was that we were on that same road you tragically losted your life on. Donta thank you for making my experience as an Explorer that much better. You will never be forgotten. My heartfilled blessing goes out to all your family, friends and love ones. Thank you for your service man.

"D", I have sat down at the computer three times since the crash. Each time I had to stop out of disbelief and grief. I remember when I started as a city cop, I looked up to you, I wanted to be like you, I wanted to be as good a cop as you, you were my hero. You meant the world to the PPD officers whom I worked with.
You took me under your wing and gave me an education, one I will never forget. The way a father teaches his son, the way a true friend takes care of friends, the way a senior Deputy should. Through your guidance I am now at PBSO. Though I work on the coast, I never forgot the bonds I forged with those on "the other coast." I never forgot the words of wisdom or the knowledge I gained under your tutelage. You truly are a gentile giant, a great cop and an even better friend.
I now have people whom I work with who I have passed this knowledge on to. The knowledge of why we do the things we do, how we take care of the community we serve and how we look after each other. These traits you instilled in me, and I have instilled them into others as you did to me, through gentile guidance, and kind words.
You will be missed, but you will be with me every day. You will always, as you have, give me the courage to face the danger of my profession, the wisdom to solve the problems I encounter, and you will be the voice of encouragement I need to overcome any and all obstacles.
Thank you for touching my life. Thank you for being my friend. I will see you again some day, on patrol somewhere, and I will gladly stand with you, any time anywhere brother.

My heart aches for the immediate family and the police family of Deputy Manuel. May he rest in peace. My husband, Cpl Mark Wesley Carthron of the Arkansas State Police died in the very same way. They are all heroes and they made the ultimate sacrifice. To his survivors, lean on the shoulder of the Lord. I can't how long it will take to heal from the pain of losing a loved one, because I am still in the process of healing. The pain never goes away but in time, it will get softer.

I can remember as if it was yesterday your first night on patrol. As I sit here I find it hard to beleave that you are gone. Just hour before you were taken from us we talked on the phone. All day I have been going over thing in my head that we joked about. Your were the best zone partner that I ever had and I will never for get all that you have done for me. As you start your retirement I pray that we all find peace and joy in the memories that you have given us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
