Reflections for Special Agent David A. Wieger
REST IN PEACE!

My deepest sympathies
On Friday morning I got up especially early to try to catch my son over the Air Force messaging portal. It was his 26th birthday and I so miss him and wanted to be with him, in at least this way.
As we connected, he could barely let the words out, the devastation in his words tore this mother's heart apart ....for him, for the three fallen men and their closest loved ones.
He stood on the tarmac that morning being a part of a very solemn and honorable send off to these young men. He reports that he will never forget them, or the look in their co-workers eyes as they loaded the caskets aboard the plane to take them home.
Six days previous, my other sons and daughters-in-law were gathered together, looking at photos of two of these wonderful men, one with a small child....with the hugest smile on his face, the other on top of a tank with animated kids all around.
They certainly were sharing love, which is truly the only way to ever find peace. We spoke of these two young men and all they were doing for all of us...and were right then so thankful for their ability to love these children the way they were in those photos.
To find out only a few days later, that they will no longer be able to share that love, is much more than heart wrenching.
As I look at the photo above, of David, I feel certain that he was the one crouched down next to a little boy in the photos my son had sent one week prior. The little boy was showing off his "muscles" like so many little boys all over the world like to do. His smile as this boy so proudly showed his strength, said so much about him as a loving, caring, dedicated to humanity, human being.
(I imagine you have that photo, if not please email and I will send it to you)
My son, my extended family, church family...and friends, all grieve with you. Our prayers run deeply for you as you go through this process.
Thank you for raising such a wonderful, loving and kind son.

This young man has gone long before his time to go. He was a true friend and maintained a wonderful smile during my time of knowing him. He enjoyed life and holds a special place in the hearts of everyone that had the blessing to have known him.
