It breaks my heart each time we loose a brother. My heart goes out to his brothers in blue, but especially his family. May Officer Cassidy rest in peace for a job well done.

Philadelphia lost a hero yesterday. The police department lost a brother. A family lost a father, son, husband, brother. No matter how you look at it, alot of people are in mourning. I did not work with or know Chuck, but it still hit home. It affects all police officers. Officers who knew him, and officers who didn't. You will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my brother, your family, and your friends.

"IT IS NOT HOW HE DIED, BUT HOW HE LIVED, THAT MAKES HIM A HERO" Officer Cassidy, I did not have the pleasure of knowing you but I have followed these horrific events in the news...I can only hope that this scum is caught soon and put in the deepest, darkest hole that Philadelphia has to offer! May God Bless your family and friends. THANK YOU for keeping US safe. GODSPEED.

Chuck,
I just don't know what to say. I am in complete shock. We worked in the 35th together & you were always the most professional Police Officer. Very soft spoken but very firm & effective with tremendous discipline. You were a very strong man who never lost his composure in any situation. You will be missed greatly. God rest your soul & God Bless your family.

I did not know Chuck Cassidy, but, as a wife of one of Philadelphias finest, I admire his bravery and heroism for what he did on a daily basis. My thoughts and prayers go out to him, for a peaceful rest. He has shown to other cops that, it's not what you do BUT how you do it, in the Law Enforcement career. May his wife, children, relatives, friends and colleagues from all of the different districts in Philadelphia know, they are not alone in their time of grief. Gods blessings, guidance and love, be with them, always.

My great-grandfather was a Philadelphia police officer who sacrificed his life doing his duty in 1941. I never knew him, but he we have the same name so he is part of me and I make sure he is never forgotten. Officer Cassidy will be remembered by his great-grandchildren as a hero too.
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless Officer Cassidy and his family.

I've only been the wife of a police officer for 4 months but the reality of the job continues to hit close to home. My husband and I laid in bed that night watching the news and talking about what happened. We held each other a little tighter that night, realizing how precious life truly is. Just like you did, my husband puts his life on the line day in and day out to protect those that can't protect themselves. God Bless you and your family for your strength and courage during your 25 years of service. We are all safer having you protecting us both on the ground and from above. Thank you blue angel.

For the family I can offer no relief for the sorrow you bear, merely my condolences. For the the surviving officers a word of solidarity and confirmation of who we are. And to the criminals...a warning!
"For we are God's servants to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for we do not bear the sword for nothing. We are God's servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer" -Romans 13:4 (paraphrased)
To the family and friends of Officer Cassidy: We are here, and in us Officer Charles Cassidy will live on forever!

To Officer Cassidy, thank you for your many years of service. To hisloving family, may God watch over you and give you strength during this most horrible of times. I grew up in the neighborhood where you live and went to Father Judge and St. Jerome. And, I am the son of a Philadelphia Police Officer (ret.) whom I prayed for every time he went to work. I know your brothers and sisters will not rest until this animal is brought to justice...hopefully soon!

Chuck, your dedication to the people that crossed your path is unmatched. Working with you such a short time ago was always a joy. Even though you had the seniority over all of us, you never felt you were too good to help out or teach us from your years of knowledge. You were always the first to respond to backup. To attempt to fill your shoes will be impossible. You are the officer that everyone wanted to work with. Rest in Peace Chuck, your watch is over, I know you are with God watching over all of us.

My sympathies to Officer Cassidy's family, friends and colleagues. I was just reading about the shooting and was hoping for the best and then I cam here and saw that Officer Cassidy had passed. He had a long tour and this is not the way to end it. As the Mayor of Philadelphia said, it is time to reevaluate your beliefs.
May Officer Cassidy rest in peace.
