It's not how they died that made them heroes, but how they lived their lives.

May God comfort Officer Mooney's family and the Stafford County S.O.during this time of sorrow. My Prayers are with all of you.

It is easy to see that anyone would be proud to call Jason a son or friend. He did so much in his few
short years. I wonder how you will ever recover from such a tremendous loss, but I know Jesus Christ our Savior is close to the brokenhearted and shares their pain. There are no words to convey my sorrow for all
who knew and loved Jason. Psalm 34 has helped me in times of grief. Only God knows the pain that is in your heart and He can comfort you. With love from one coast
of America to the other.

As I come to this page, I have just been to your celebration of life. No words can describe how I feel. With time I hope this devasting sacrifice that you gave will finally become a reality in my mind. I have thought about you daily hoping that this situation was not true. In the numerous pictures that your family had of our Academy Class, L.E. 90, we are together learning about our chosen careers and pondering the outcome. Please, little brother, continue to be my guardian angel and guide me as we did to each other in training. I will think of you always and hope you will be there to greet me at Heaven's door. Maybe by then you will have a faster car to keep up with mine. You know what I'm talking about. I'll miss you my brother, my friend!

What a fine young man this was as is evidenced by the many reflections. I did not know Jason, but I wish I had. To his family and fiance, I pray God's peace that passes all understanding be with you. We also lost a Texas Officer Dale Sherrill, also on October 19, also to a vehicle accident. To the officer at Stafford County, carry on as Jason would want you too. To Jason's family, I am certain he would want you to carry on as best you can, knowing he died doing something he loved. God Bless You!!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Mooney and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Deputy Mooney has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Mooney, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Deputy Mooney is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

Words cannot express the loss that our community was dealt. The next time you hear a siren coming down the road, say a prayer for the law enforcement, fire fighter, rescue squad personnel, or any official to keep them safe in God’s hands.

Jason’s life has ended for this world but we will meet again in the after life.

On one of the shows a used to watched, the eulogy of a fallen hero listed all the lives that was saved by them and lives that were touched by them.

Please always remember Jason as the hero he is, the lives touched by him, lives saved by him and let the next generation of future heroes be inspired by him.
