Although we did not know one another, I am deeply saddened by losing a brother in such a way. It saddens me that you dedicated so much of your life to serving our country and ensuring the liberties for all free men, even men such as the one who took your life. Just know you leave behind a legacy only others dream of being worthy of leaving.
Rest In Peace.

Scott, thank you for your service to our community and for being the friend that you were to so many. May you rest in peace.
To his family, friends, and fellow brothers in blue, Scott was a good officer and a good man and has forever touched our lives. He will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in this difficult time.

Scott "had your back" at work. He was a hard worker and didn't take anything from anybody. He was an agressive officer that took his oath and his job seriously. He kept in good physical shape to do his job to the best of his ability and he had a way with words that will be missed.
Later brother...

I met Scott when he first came to my squad in Zone 2. I was a sergeant and he was brand new as a JSO police officer. He was very active from the beginning and sometimes I had to try to slow him down, so he wouldn't get himself hurt.
As a Squad, we would go in a back room and pray for God's protection and wisdom before roll call. Scott would always join us in prayer. He never really wanted to talk about God other than to say he had his own relationship with God.
I transferred from the squad and went to Zone 3. I did not see Scott anymore for a few years and then one day when I was visiting Sgt. T. K. Waters at his home in the northside, he appeared in the neighborhood in his patrol car. He was grinning ear to ear. Scott told me he had received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he just went on and on about how great it was to be 'saved'.
I tell you all this because I receive great comfort knowing that my brother in Jesus Christ, Scott Bell, is happier now than he has ever been dancing on the streets of gold in heaven. If Scott could come back, but he wouldn't, he would ask all of you to make that same decision he did (Romans 10:9-10) because we all will face judgment someday. For the Christian 'The Judgment Seat of Christ' (2 Cor 5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.)and for those of you who reject Jesus Christ 'The White Throne Judgment' (Rev 20:11-15, And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.)
Scott's death is not in vain. It is a testimony of what Jesus Christ can do for you. Will you see Scott in Heaven? I will. (Rev 22;20) "Surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

Scott,
I spent some time with some of your K9 Officers, doing some training in Jacksonville some years ago. They were some of the most professional officers that I have worked with and from reading your reflections, so were you. May God Bless You, Your Family, and your Brother and Sisters Officers at the Sheriff's Office. God has taken you home for his reasons and know you can begin your eternal life. Our lives on this earth are but a blink of an eye. I know you will watch over my buddy Jeff Lenz and the other officers left behind. Tell St. Michael to keep his watch over all Police Officers, times are getting tougher.

To the friends and family of Officer Scott Eric Bell:
I am sorry for your loss. Just know that Scott did not die in vain. He died a hero and know that he is at peace.
“The Final Inspection”
The policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass. “Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?” The policeman squared his shoulders and said, “No Lord. I guess I ain’t. Because those who carry badges can’t always be a saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough… and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awful tough. But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep… though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, it needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much. But if you don’t…I’ll understand.” There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod, as the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God. “Step forward now, policeman. You’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven’s streets. You’ve done your time in hell.” –Author unknown

Scott,
Rest in peace sir, and know that your job was "DONE WELL." My heart felt condolences go out to your family at home and work. Also know that you and your work ethic were thought highly of by your peers and you will not be forgotten.
The Police Officer's 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, His comforting hand reduces fear to naught; He makes me walk through streets of crime, But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod, And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God," He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul, For His name's sake He keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door, I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more; For Thou art with me every step of the way, As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me, As I work daily among life's enemies; He gives me authority to uphold the law, And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, Each day of my life through eternity; As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...," When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.
