Reflections for Officer Scott Eric Bell

Brother Scott, your reputation preceeded you anywhere you went. You were a hardworking, loyal, and ethical police officer. You will not be forgotten. Rest in peace brother.

It is truly sad to loose a brother to such a senseless crime. May god comfort this officers family and squadmates. Rest in peace brother, we got it from here.

The policeman stood to face his God, which must always come to pass.

He hoped his boots were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Policeman. How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulder's and said. "No lord, I guess I ain't,

Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough,

and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough.

"But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.."

And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear."

"If you've got a place for me here Lord, It needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints often trod.

As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, Policeman. You've borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat in Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Hell."

To the family of our brother, Officer Scott E. Bell,

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Our prayers go out to you and your family in your time of great pain and sorrow. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Thank you Scott, see you soon brother.

I worked with Scott for approximately 6 months before he transferred to the North side of town. During that time I worked with Scott, he was a hard charging cop that led our squad in arrests. These weren't the simple driving violation arrests and worthless check arrests, Scott went out and made good felony arrests taking lots of guns and drugs off the streets. Scott is what I call a real police man and often volunteered to work the less desirable areas of the zone because that is where he could find the most guns, drugs, and crime. For a 50 year old man, he out worked the much younger officers and didn't show any signs of slowing down. Scott came to work and fought the good fight every day. He received Officer of the Month during the short time he was in my zone and it was well deserved. The citizens of Jacksonville lost a good police officer on October 12th and he will be missed.

I had the pleasure to serve with Officer Scott Bell on a street crimes unit with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Scott was a great police officer and had a knack for finding criminals. He was well respected and will be greatly missed by his fellow officers here at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Scott always made it clear where he stood with God and I have no doubt where he is standing now. Rest in peace brother for your tour of duty has ended and you’ve given the ultimate sacrifice.

When there's music all around
No conductor in the stand
When the singing is like sobbing
With no method to the sound
There's a voice that reminds me not to fret
It's the one that rings out above the rest
There's a song, sets me free
Like a rhythm over me
There's a chain, a chain of voices
Looking for a harmony
There's a sound like a trumpet
Blowing out across the sea
There's a beat from the center of the wind
With the heat from the keeper of the flame
There's a breath moving sweetly
Like a rhythm over me

And it is over me
When I feel I cannot move
It always carries me
It is over me
Like a rhythm over me

When I'm riding with the angels
With my feel like the hind
When I'm riding with the angels
With my wings like the eagle
There's a voice that reminds me not to fret
It's the one that rings out above the rest
There's a song, sets me free
Like a rhythm over me

And it is over me
When I feel I cannot move
It always carries me
It is over me
Like a rhythm over me

"Over me" sang by Crystal Lewis
----------------------------
What this song meant for me in my time of grief was that through all the pain I felt and still feel, Gods gentle steady hand is always around me and that my reunion with our Heavenly Father and loved ones will be that much sweeter.

I know there are no words that anyone can say right now that will make it any easier to understand the how's and why's of this untimely accident but please take comfort in knowing that there is a master plan to EVERYTHING that happens. Please know that you are in my prayers and very much loved.
