Reflections for Trooper Zachariah Earl Templeton

Trooper Templeton
You will be missed by so many people. You have served with pride, dedication and respect. I will never forget the times I covered you and you covered me. I will truly miss the days of waiting in traffic court talking about the past days events.
I am so proud of you as well as your friends and family are too. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts everyday. You've effected so many lives around the world as I received this hoirrible news from Southern Iraq.
Take care and God bless my friend.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Trooper Templeton. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Zachariah, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Zachariah's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Zachariah's life was about so much more than the way he died. Zachariah will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Trooper Templeton, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I didn't know you or have the pleasure of serving with you, but wish I had. You were described as having quite a sense of humor and dedication to your co-workers. Those are both qualities that I admire. Watch over the rest of us. Thank you for your service.

For many years this officer stood the watch... While some of us lay about at night, this officer stood the watch...
While others of us were attending schools and, yes, even before some of us were born, this officer stood the watch...As our families watched the storm clouds of war
brewing on the horizons of history, he stood the watch...
Often he would look around and see his family needed his guidance, but he knew he must stay because,he had the watch...For many years he stood the watch so that we
and our fellow citizens could sleep soundly in safety knowing that this officer would stand the watch.

Today we are here to say...
"The watch stands relieved..."
Relieved by those you have led, guided, and trained...

Zach, lived his life with honesty, integrity he had an unforgettable sense of humor I loved to banter back and forth with him, in conversations where I knew I never would have gotten the upper hand. He was so quick witted, he had a big heart and truly loved working for the State Patrol. My heart aches for his Mom, Dad and his daughter Samantha. And for all family members that have lost a loved one while in the service of others. I would like to offer a special thanks to all officers out there for your sacrifice and dedication, in service and protection for all. And to the families of those officers that rearange holiday dinners, and other family get togethers to a time when their "officer" is off shift and can join them. I will love and miss you forever.

Even though I did not know you well....I did give you a hard time about the Patrol letting an explorer work the street. You took it in stride and still called on my partner and I to do some work for you. We both appreciated you calling on us. Go-getters in this line of work are what we prize most....and you are certainly one of those.

"The only thing needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

You were one who decided nothing was something you could not do. Those of us left behind to do the work of those that have passed need to remember that a brother was lost..That his family is ours and we have the honor of taking care of that family.

Getting to know you was a time in my life i will never forget. I spent a lot of time with oyou playing football in the police and fire games. I know your father even better and know that you looked up to him. He was a good role model for you but you were an even better role model to everyone that puts on the uniform. You were dedicated in every way. My best memory was getting flack from you after a chase you were in. I was not there to assist you at the time and you let me know about it. You are the best safety in the state and an even better hero...

I will love you forever and miss you dearly. Thank you for the time short time I was able to spend with you.
