We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Brentar and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Brentar has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Brentar, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Brentar is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

I got to know Ofc. Brentar during my time as an Auxliary Police Officer for the city of Euclid. What a great man... a firm, but always fair cop. The city has lost one of their finest.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all.. his wife, children, and brother officers. May all find some solace in the fact that George was well liked and respected by many. While our grief can't possibly match theirs, all those who had the honor of knowing and working with Ofc. Brentar are saddened by his passing.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your Wife, children, Mother, brothers and sisters. Also to your family, friends, and entire department. Also to the officers that tried to save you. I know angels took you far into the heavens above, where as God has you safely in his gentle arms, 10-4 forever more in his loving care. Mrs. Brentar, I was very sorry to learn of the death of Officer Brentar. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I am deeply concerned about the sorrow and distress you must be experiencing. However, the Bible promises that we will have the opportunity to see our dead loved ones again. Please read in your Bible John 5:28,29. A resurrection hope is held out to all of those sleeping in the grave. Acts 24:15. Almighty God Jehovah has promised to obedient mankind that very soon, pain sickness and even death will be no more Revelation 21:1-5. Sincerest condolences.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Brentar family. George was a great man as well as police officer. He was kind and helpfull and he enjoyed his job. It's always hard and almost impossible to find comforting words when someone you know has been lost in such a tragic accident. It's very hard to cope with a loss of a family member but I hope that your family will stay strong, and with the help of friends and family will eventually get through these difficult times. Please accept our depest condolences. May God be with you!
Respectfully,
The Koretsky family.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders
and said, "No Lord. I guess I ain't.
Because those who carry badges,
can't always be a saint."
"I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough...
and sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awful tough."
"But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep."
"And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I wept unmanly tears."
"I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear."
"If you've a place for me here, Lord,
it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But, if you don't...I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne,
where saints had often trod,
as the policeman waited quietly
for the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets.
You've done your time in hell."
