People from the outside will never understand what you did for a living and how much of a challenge it really is to face what you so bravely did. The citizens of this State owe you and the other fallen Officers a great debt of gratitude for putting your life on the line daily to protect us. God Bless and watch over your brothers and sisters in grey.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your husband, 2 daughters, son, family, friends, fellow correctional officers, entire department, and to the citizens whom you gave the ultimate sacrifice for, in serving to protect them. It breaks my heart each and every time I open up this memorial page, to see when another name has been added. I know the angels have carried you far into the heavens above, where as God has you safely in his arms, 10-4 forever more, in his loving care. Please know you will not be forgotten, and both you and your family are always in my prayers. "A Hero does not become a Hero by their death, but by how they lived their life." God Bless!

I am so sorry for the family. C/O Canfield's loss just brings home the fact that these are people that will not stop at anything to escape their punishment. We all must never forget how dangerous the Officer's job is. I want to say thank you to all the Officers in Texas and everywhere for their willingness to keep the rest of us safe. Correction Officer Canfield
Thank you for your service, rest in peace my sister. Watch over the rest of us from your heavenly perch.

To the Family of Officer Canfield
You complete family are in my families prayers and god bless you. This is a dark time, but there is light at end of this tunnel and your heart will heal. My family is just starting to make it thru it with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now, but remember you love ones laugh, those things that are unique to her, since they are truly what made her. Susan will always be with you, that gentle wind that dries your tears, that warm feel of an embrace when no one is near is her way of helping you heal. Understand also it is a special calling for one to stand up and protect the weak, which Susan did, she is a true hero.
