Reflections for Corrections Officer Susan Louise Canfield
We do a job that many would be appalled at doing. We do not do it for the money or the fame, we want to make a difference and make people safe. It seems it is a thankless job at times. But, those of us who put on our uniforms everyday know that is not so. We are all a family who work and play together. We are all brothers and sisters no matter where we live. We will miss you, and you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Canfield and we honor her distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Canfield has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Canfield, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Canfield is distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

A Police/Corrections Officer's Prayer
Lord, I ask for courage
Courage to face and conquer my own fears,
Courage to take me, where others will not go.
I ask for strength
Strength of body, to protect others.
Strength of spirit, to lead others.
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well,
Dedication to my community, to keep it safe.
Give me Lord, concern
For all those who trust me
And compassion for those Who need me.
And please Lord
Throughout it all.
Be at my side.
Officer Canfield thank you for your service and sacrifice. May God bless your family for their sacrifice.

This is another reminder just how dangerous this job can become in an instant. My prayers go out to the family of Mrs. Canfield and her extended family, her department. We all grieve for your loss and pray that in time, only the good memories will remain and you will be able to speak of her with a smile.

Officer Canfield will be remembered as an Officer , wife and mother .I am saddened by her sacriface and her families
pain . May God give her loved ones the gift of strenght to endure and remember she did her duty and we all know more than others how much that can ask of us . Our job is not easy and the public often forgets what we risk to serve and protect---beyond the streets daily . I will remember to kiss my husband and kids more often ,espically as my husband is an Officer too . God Bless and Thank You
