To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 143rd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Officer Landers, you did your best to protect the Kentucky Central Railroad and even went so far as to help end a problem not connected to the company. You did your job and lost your life over it, and by a nut with a saber no less!

On this 138th anniversary of your tragic murder, I wish to thank you for your service in helping to protect one of America’s most vital resources, it’s railroads and to commend you for going above and beyond that position. You are a true hero.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
