My family is just starting to make it thru it with the death of my future son in-law Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007). I know you can not see pass the grief right now, but remember you loves laugh, those things that are unique to him, sine they are truly what made the man. I was married to a police officer for 9 years and my heart weighs heavy for your wife and children. Each time I hear of an officer's life being ended in this manner I am jolted back to all of those times that fear struck my heart and I wondered how it would feel to me if my husband's buddy came to tell me he was gone and how would I cope. The wives and children of police officers are living on a prayer every day until that officer retires. The tremendous sense of loss that this whole community feels pales to what your wife and children are enduring. I know that there are many more women like me, and particularly women who lived their lives with policemen who are holding your wife in their hearts wishing that there was some way to ease her pain. May God hold her, your children, your brothers/sisters in uniform, your parents and everyone else whose lives you touched in the palm of His hand and ease their pain. Your duty is done and may you find peace with our Lord. I am so sorry for what that lost soul did to you. I pray you did not suffer.

Last night I lay in bed
My gut sick and sour
pounding in my head
tragedy struck this hour
Knowing something was not right
the void of not knowing
kept awake half the night
while red lights were glowing
While the world lay sleeping
we are alert and awake
vigilant guard he was keeping
making no mistake
All of us connected by fate
a brother now laid
forever to rest on this date
his oath and promise be paid
St Michael Protect Us ...
For we fight the good fight
leaving our families behind
kissing them good night
going back to the grind
Put ourselves in harms way
so that others may rest
knowing we keep evil at bay
being the best of the best
The blue line has been stained
with the blood of a brother
all feel sorrow and are pained
all feel the loss of another
St Michael Protect Us ...
Hunt them down we yell
none will take rest
find the evil from hell
desecrated our crest
Black band across shield
blue blood ties us together
great strength we do wield
stay strong in bad weather
WHEN ONE FALLS, WE ALL FALL ...
St. Michael Protect ALL of US ...

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Detective Moreno, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

For those of you who did not know Det. Mario Moreno, we, at the San Antonio Police Department, appreciate all sincere messages and prayers you have sent. I had the pleasure of knowing Det. Mario Moreno and worked with him for the past two years on the street before he was promoted to Detective. Leave no doubt, this man loved his job and loved his family. He was an excellent officer and a wonderful Father and Husband. His 'second' family will greatly miss him but will carrying him with us forever. I saw and spoke to him on the day before he went to be with the Lord, and he was happy and smiling like usual. He died what he loved doing and made the ultimate sacrifice for his community.
Rest peacefully my friend and we will all be together again some day. God Bless the Moreno Family.
