Det. Moreno, a hero took his rest today. Check out your heavenly patrol car and take your watch over your brothers and sisters in blue (and brown/tan/green). Thank you for service and sacrifice. To your family, I know the tears I cry mean little in the deepness of your pain. It is all I can do at this time. Our prayers and tears are for you. To the troops who were on duty today at SAPD, I pray for you. My little brother was one of you today and it is in the harshness of this reality that I pray you find strength. To the ROP guys -- you were part of my dads life for many years and although I have never met many of you, you are an extended part of my family. I wish I could take your pain and sorrow. Please know that you are all prayed for as you walk this portion of your beat -- and beyond.

To the family, friends, and coworkers of Detective Moreno: May God bless with you with peace and grace at this most difficult time. It has been my bittersweet pleasure to come to know families from the San Antonio area who lost loved ones in the line of duty. Look to them for guidance and support. They will walk this path with you in a way that so few people can understand.
My two daughters live in San Antonio. They were the ones who notified me of the community's tragic loss. I know that Detective Moreno and all he represents watched over them for me and kept them safe. They join with me in offering heartfelt sympathy to those who loved him.

I AM A WARRIOR

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.
