Reflections for Detective Mario Moreno

Mario was my FTO on my cadet ride for daylight. We had such a good time, we went through so much stuff, it felt like a month stuffed into one day. He was very funny, and a terrific police officer. I think of him often, and miss him very much. I hope that one day his son looks me up, so I can tell him how one of the best days on the PD for me, was spent with his dad. I’ll never forget Mario, and I keep his memory alive by telling people the story of that one day we spent together. Rest in Paradise Devil Dog!

I didn't know you but it saddens me to know this happened to you. I share the same enthusiasm as you once did. You were dedicated to a good cause and for that you will always be remembered as honorable. Though I didn't know you I think of you frequently and how dangerous our line of work is. I pray for your family and that God will bless them. Evil never prevails and the most comforting thing to know is where you go when you pass on.

To the family and friends of Detective Mario Moreno and his fellow officers in the San Antonio Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Mario's memory on the first anniversary of the day Mario so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.

Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and police survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Detective Moreno gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 21, 2007.
