"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God." Matthew 5:9
We have lost another true hero in a cowardly and violent manner. My heart grieves with the family tonight. May they find peace in their loved ones and strength in their fond memories. Officer Erfle is keeping heaven safe. Your brothers and sisters will keep your watch sir, may you rest in peace.
"A Part Of America Died,"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call, of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

Once again from the dregs of our society a person with a minor crime, a misdeameanor warrant, shoots and kills one of the best that our society had to offer causing 2 children to become fatherless, a wife to become a widow, and parents to outlive their child.
As I go on shift tonight I want your family to know that your brothers/sisters in uniform are ever vigilant and we have the watch now.

To the family, friends and co-workers our prayers are with you. You will miss Officer Erfle everyday, but I want you to know that we will never forget the sacrifice that Nick made and the sacrifice that you will make everyday that you spend without Officer Nick Erfle. It breaks my heart everytime I see another officer added to this list. I have visited this site everyday since my son was added in 2004, and each time a another Officer is added it breaks my heart. Just know there are alot of people who are praying for your family.
I have Blue Candles that burn 24/7 in memory LEO's, so if you see a glow from Fort Walton Beach that will be us. Look Clint up, on never mind if I know Clint he was waiting for you, but tell him I sure miss everything about him.
