To Serve & Protect

Some of us didn't know you well,
Yet we all shared an instant bond.
Our lives' paths crossed with our collective purpose,
To serve & protect.

We take comfort in knowing,
That you are embraced and welcomed,
By our guardian brothers & sisters who preceded you,
To serve & protect.

You are,
Ever the servant,
Ever the protector,
Ever the friend,

And we'll be seeing you

Just as the inscription reads at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial... "In Valor There Is Hope" Thanks to the selfless acts of law enforcement officers like Nick, every day hope continues to abound for our country, our communties and our children, all for whom some must pay the ultimate sacrifice.

It isn't how Nick died that made him a hero, rather it was how he quietly did his job each day that made him a hero.

Godspeed.

Special Agent
U.S. Gov't. - Inspector General

The following is a Fallen Officer's Prayer that was found while a Pueblo Police Officer visited the N.Y.P.D. Museum & Ground Zero in 2005 Officer's Prayer

"Fallen Officer’s Prayer"
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
My Name For All Eternity.
Recorded Here At This Hallowed Place.
Alas, My Name, No More My Face.
'In The Line of Duty' I Hear Them Say.
My Family Now The Price To Pay.
My Folded Flag Stained With Their
Tears.
We Only Had Those Few Short Years.
The Badge No Longer On My Chest.
I Sleep Now In Eternal Rest.
My Sword I Pass To Those Behind And
Pray They Keep This Thought In Mind.
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
And With A Heavy Heart And Bended
Knee, I Ask For All Here From The
Past...
Dear God, Let My Name Be The Last.
What is happening to society today? You hear, nothing it seems, on the TV or radio, pick up a newspaper they ppl are shooting and killing others. To hear of this so often and people have no value of life..it seems it is so easy to pick up a weapon and kill another. No matter if it police or our soldiers or firefighters whom ever it is...they are taken from us too early. People do not have or know the value of another's life.
The families they leave behind to mourn them and miss them so much, day in and day out.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. The days near will be so dark for some of you.. but you will understand there are others out there that fell your pain too.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
