Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer David Camden

Your one year EOW anniversary is today and I feel so sad for those you left
behind. Someone close to you said your name is written in the Lamb's Book of
Life so I will rejoice because of that! That is our ONLY saving grace!! I only
read 3 pages of reflections, but it is easy to see that you were loved and respected. You accomplished your purpose on earth...to bring God glory thru
His Son, Jesus Christ. Hooray for you!!!

To the family and loved ones of Officer David Camden, his fellow officers with the Temple Police Department, and most especially to David:

On this the first anniversary of your tragic death, please know that you are honored and revered today and everyday.

From all the loving reflections left about you, I can see that you were an amazing man and what a grievous loss your loved ones have endured because of your death.

May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire. You are loved and missed by so many.

Rest in Peace, David. A body is but for a lifetime, but spirits and souls are for eternity and yours is forever part of those who call you beloved.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service David gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 14, 2007.

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones and close friends on this first anniversary. I know each day is hard but this one is the hardest. Watch over all of your loved ones and wrap your wings around them and help them with their grief and protect them from harm. You have not been forgotten.

Anna Fauntroy and Santos & Angelika Garcia wish to express their deepest condolences to the entire Camden family. Having just heard about David's death just yesterday from David's mom was quite a shock. It's still unbelievable knowing he's gone. The death of a loved one is unbearable under any circumstances, but his memory in our minds and hearts will last forever. May nothing but peace and love come to the Camden Family.

David, I found out about you a few weeks ago. I could not find the words I needed to say. I would have been there to see you off on your journey to meet James, if I had known. I know that he was there with open arms for you. Knowing that the two of you are watching over us left behind is a great feeling. I know that the two of you are running your bikes at full speed up and down the streets of gold, laughing as loud as ya'll can. Try to keep James in line for me. Thats a full time job I know. But I think you can do it. The two of you were chosen to keep the streets of gold safe, and I know that God job is a little easier now with you two on his team now.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Officer Camden, I never had the pleasure of knowing you. But it's easy to see your were a well respected member of our "family". May God watch over your family and may you Rest In Peace. I ask that you keep watch over your "brothers and sisters" that are out there doing it every day, especially your fellow motorcops.

David, I have thought long and hard about what exactly to write here. Unfortunately words alone do not express the loss felt by me, my family, or our department. You were always upbeat and smiling from the first time I met you to the last day I saw you. Your energy and attitude were infectious to all around you. It was an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to serve with both you and Tommy! You were truely a peacemaker.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Camden, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for David, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember David's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that David's life was about so much more than the way he died. David will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Camden, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Days have gone by since your passing, and I still think of you everyday. I know that you are smiling up there in Heaven. You were an amazing Officer, co-worker, and friend. No matter how many more days pass, you will NEVER be forgotten. Thank you for your service, loyalty, and friendship...more importantly, thank you for always having a smile on your face and being such a pleasure to be around. The world needs more people like you in it, but I suppose Heaven needed you more. We love and miss you, David!

Bro, I have looked at this page several time and just could not find the words to write you. I think of you ever day I go to work. You were always there with a smile on your face, making the day better. When I miss seeing you around I just close my eyes and go to my memories. I just have to accept that God had a bigger mission for you and he needed you right away. I am so thankful for the time I had with you and I just wanted to say thank you for being my friend..... my brother..... You are truly missed. Thank you for watching over us all now.... I will see you on the other side.

Dear Officer Camden:

When I found out it was you who was killed, tears filled my eyes. I remember the day my friend and I came into the Temple Police Department to report my ex-husband regarding possible theft.

I was not in the best state of mind, and you were so immensly patient with me regarding this situation. Your kindness and actually taking the time to explain the laws and what I had to do to proceed gave me a comfort level that you cared about my situation

I know you are up now in the heavens and you will do good things there.

I only met you once for about 15 minutes, but you did make a difference. Thank you for that and goodspeed!
