Dave was the greatest partner I could of asked for going into the COPS unit he truly understood community oriented policing and, made a difference in the community. Dave was committed to helping the youth of the community. Dave is a hero and, I am honored to have served this community with him.

Dave was an awesome officer who definetly went above & beyond a call of duty especially with children. My daughter remembers him and would embrace him if she saw him not just around the work area but in a public place as well. He has touched several lives as I am told when I go anywhere here in Temple. We are both sadden and he will be greatly missed but not forgotten within our family and the family here at the Temple PD. God Bless you & your family are in our prayers.

Dave-o,
I have worked with you since arriving at TPD and have always enjoyed the time together. You were always full of laughter with a smile to go along with it. The day prior to your crash, I was just laughing and joking with someone about your "shaving accident" when we were in the C.O.P.S. unit. You went riding by my and a couple other bicycle officers while you were on your bicycle. We asked you what happened and you said, "I cut myself shaving." We called you out and asked if you had fell off your bicycle. You insisted that you cut yourself shaving even after we asked you where your visor was to your bicycle helmet. Always kidding and joking will be how I will remember you. You and your smile will be missed around the PD.

Dave, You have made the ultimate sacrifice doing what you loved most. We ask that as you watch over us from the Heavenly skies you protect, and keep us safe. We have another angel on our shoulders now!!
To your Temple PD family: My thoughts and prayers are with you during this horrible tragedy. You have faced adversity in the past and overcome the challenge as a family. I know you will do so again.
To the guys in the Traffic Unit: This is not the first time you have had to respond to, and work a scene involving one of your brothers. This is the worst type of call to respond to and I pray their will be no more. Your unit has showed true professionalism and I can only hope I could handle myself HALF as well as you do if ever faced with that challenge. My hats off to you my Brothers, you are true Hero’s
Tomorrow will be hard, we will come together as one for the celebration of Dave’s life. We will then be left to guard the streets on earth as Dave guards the streets of heaven. The Lord has gained a Saint, we have lost a Hero.

DAVE,
I CHECK THIS SITE EVERYDAY, YOU ARE THE LAST ONE I EVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE. WE BOTH BEGAN OUR CAREER'S TOGETHER WITH TEMPLE POLICE, BOTH HIRING ON AT SAME TIME, BOTH LIVING RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. I REMEMBER BEFORE WE BECAME POLICE OFFICERS, YOU WORKED AS A JAILER AT TEMPLE AND I WOULD COME UP TO YOUR STATION AND PLAY DARTS WITH YOU. BEING A POLICE OFFICER WAS ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO BE AND YOU ALWAYS HAD A FUN FILLED SPIRIT, STRONG DETERMINATION AND PRIDE WHEN YOU WORE YOUR UNIFORM. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE DAYS WHEN WE TRIED TO OUTDUE EACH OTHER WITH CLEANING OUR PATROL CARS, BOTH PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAYS NEXT TO EACH OTHER, AND SEEING WHICH HUNK OF CRAP THE DEPARTMENT GAVE TO US, WAS THE CLEANIST....LOL I CAN HONESTLY SAY YOU ARE THE REASON I STARTED MY CAREER IN POLICING. I WAS SADDENED WHEN I MADE A CAREER MOVE TO HCSO AND MOVED AWAY FROM ONE OF MY GOOD FRIENDS AND PARTNER, WHO WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR ME NO MATTER WHAT. TAKE CARE BROTHER, I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. IM SURE YOUR SON ONEDAY WILL WALK IN YOUR PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND MAYBE ONE DAY BE THE STRONG WILLED POLICE OFFICER THAT YOU WERE. TAKE CARE BROTHER, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
