"A Part Of America Died,"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

What a tragedy that we lose another officer because another person has no value for ones life.

Joe always came across as a loving and polite individual who I had the pleassure of knowing. He was described as a great Field Training Officer by those who rode with Joe. Joe was very enthusiastic, and always proffesional. Joe always expressed his gratitude to those wo were there for him in every call, and I'm sure he's doing the same in heaven for everyone who helped in the search for the man who took him away from us. Joe should always be remember for the smiles and the thoughts he left behind. we should always keep him in our hearts.

We often wonder why our brothers and sisters are taken from us so early in life. I have come to understand that God has a bigger role for them to play in our lives. They become our Guardian Angels, protecting us until it's our time to join them. My heartfelt condolences to his Family, our extended Family.

I work with Officer Somohano's brother and this breaks my heart to hear this news. I know that Jose meant the world to his brother. This family is in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that you will trust in GOD and follow his guidance to get you through this time of grief.
I got this quote from ODMP and it has so much meaning, "When a police officer is killed it's not an agency that loses an officer it's an entire nation."
GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY.
