Reflections for Police Officer Germaine Ferris Casey
Ofc.Casey and RRPD Officers,
I once served proudly in Rio Rancho as a police officer and I loved working for the fine men and women there. I resigned there and now work in Indiana for the Floyd County Police Department. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Officer Casey, but I know many of the fine officers who worked with him. My heart breaks for you as we also lost an officer this past June, Officer Frank Denzinger. Ofc. Denzinger was shot in the back with a rifle by a 15 year old kid at a domestic disturbance. I was working that day and everything about that day is scarred into my memory. I feel your pain brothers and sisters of the Rio Rancho Police, and I pray for Ofc. Casey's family. I will serve and love my fellow brothers and sisters forever. My friends who I worked with in Rio Rancho, please give my condolences and love to Officer Casey's family.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Sir,
The call of duty is not for everyone, but for some it is their life. I did not have the privilege to know you but the words of those that did will leave me changed forever. You have given the ultimate sacrafice; one that every emergency service worker knows they may one day face and for that you will always be remembered. Thank you for your commitment to your call. Godspeed.
To the family,
May you find peace amongst pain. You will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

Germaine, it has taken me a while to write this. You gave the ultimate sacrifice my brother. As it was said at your funeral "There is no greater love than he who gives his life for his friends". It can't be said any better than that. You came in on your time off to help your friends. That final selfless act will never be forgotten. Thank you for your dedication and service to all of us. I Miss you my friend!!

Dear Germaine,
I think one of the bravest officers in this country today. You risked your life to protect the president of the United States. People considered has their hero and gaurdian angel. I consider you and my dad as my heroes and gaurdian angels. I think this Quote says I want to say "It is life near the bone where it is Sweetest." (Thoreau, Walden). I believe you lived your life to the bone where it is the sweetest. I think of you every time go to the Goodfellaz games. I still remember you cracking ball out of the park. I know that are watching over the of all us. Importantly watch over my dad and your own family for me. It takes a lot of guts to die in the line of duty to protect your country. I hope to see again one day. Every time I look up at the sky at school or when I am outside I wonder if you are happy and what heaven is like? I learned to live life to the bone where it is the sweetest because life is to short. Germaine rest in peace and god bless my Friend.
