Sergeant Harrison,

I want to thank you for all of your hard work over the years. You were my first supervisor when I was hired and in my FTO program, and when I became a FTO you again were my supervisor, and I want to tell you that you made me a better deputy and I want to thank you for that. I try to rest today knowing that you are in a better place. My prayers are with you and your family. I just ask that you drop in and watch over us from time to time.

Thank you again, and rest in peace sir. GOD BLESS YOU.

Sarge, I saw you that evening in the office, you were finishing up last minute details for your checkpoint. We exchanged a brief conversation as we always did. You turned your light off, closed your door. We then exchanged goodnights as we always did. I never thought it would be our last. You are a true hero in my eyes. I will miss that smile and humor of yours. Rest in peace....

“The Final Inspection”
The policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass. “Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?” The policeman squared his shoulders and said, “No Lord. I guess I ain’t. Because those who carry badges can’t always be a saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough… and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awful tough. But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep… though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, it needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much. But if you don’t…I’ll understand.” There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod, as the policeman waited quietly for the judgement of his God. “Step forward now, policeman. You’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven’s streets. You’ve done your time in hell.” –Author unknown

Sgt. Garrison:

Eventhought I have never met you, we wear the same uniform however in a different county. This is a real tragedy and I am sadden by learning of this at a police funeral of our own on 08/15/07. One of our Sergeant's Chris Reyka made the ultimate scarfice on 08/10/07.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Sgt. Harrison. Just know he was a true hero and made the untimate scarfice to make his community a safer place.

As a detention deputy working in the jail, I don't have the opportunity to meet a lot of the road deputies. I have heard nothing but great things about you, Sarge. You sound like the kind of supervisor every deputy wanted to work for. We had two different jobs, but we wore the same badge. Thank you for your many years of service to the HCSO and to the community. My prayers are with you and your family.

My prayers go out to the family of Sergeant Ron Harrison and to the officers of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Thank you for your bravery, dedication and sacrifice. May your family take comfort in the fact that you will FOREVER be a hero and NEVER be forgotten. I am thankful that your death was avenged and no other Officer's were hurt. I guess God needed another Sarge in heaven, so until one day we meet, keep walking your beat on the Golden Street looking over the rest of the thin blue line. May God Bless your family, friends and colleagues.
