You've ways handled your business by leading by example. As active as you were, no one could tell that you were a Sergeant and 51 yrs old. Your mentorship will always be appreciated and you'll always be missed. Your Partner, Mel Smith.

Sooner or later the criminal who did this will pay the price for his crime and since there were @ least two of them they'll probably rat each other off before sundown next Tuesday.
Sleep tight Sgt. Reyka and take heart in the scripture, "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord!"

Words can't even express the pain and loss I feel at this moment. Chris, you were one of the best. I can still remember riding in the 5.0 Mustang with you in Carver's homes in the early 1990's. We would playfully argue over who would drive it because it was fast and fun. Then we would park the car across the street in the warehouses and you would bring out your binoculars to watch the drug dealers. I had a hard time staying awake at times, but we would sit and chat to keep awake. We would sit there for hours.
Working in C.I. with you was a pleasure and you were a great mentor. I remember how happy we were when we both found out we were getting promoted. You were a great supervisor and friend and was always there to help.
I remember working Alpha with you when we were Sergeants, and the nights we would ride together then go get coffee at the double D and go on patrol. There were many nights we talked about our families, vacations and just life in general. I will always treasure those memories.
I will always remember you, Chris. I know you will be watching over your law enforcement brothers and sisters.
Not only were you a good cop, but you were a good father, husband and human being.
You are a true hero. May you rest in peace.

It is so hard for all of us in law enforcement to deal with the felonious deaths of our brothers and sisters. It is too often that the courageous are stricken from the earth by the hands of the criminal.
We are sincerely appreciative Sgt. Reyka for your service to the profession and for your courage in the face of evil. We hope that your assailants are found and brought to justice. May you find the peace that you are well deserved and may you know that your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
To your family we send all of our strength and prayers and we hope that they are comforted during this difficult time.
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
Respectfully submitted on behalf of my department,
