Dear Timoshenko Family,
My family & I are sending our sincere sympathies to you during this dark time in your life. Always remember that your son was a true hero & loved the job that he did. He will never be forgotten. We, too, lost our only brother 4 wks. ago today. Sometimes I still feel as though he will breeze through the door. He also loved his job as a police officer & would not have had it any other way. That was his calling in life. At age 32, he left behind his wife of 3 1/2 yrs. & a 2 yr. old daughter. There have been many occasions that I have asked God why he had to take someone who had so much life left in him. Although I'll never know the exact answer, I believe his ultimate sacrifice has a greater purpose. Our community has reached out in a way that I have never seen in my 35 yrs. of life. You, too, will find great comfort from your community & the police family that loved your so greatly. We wish you strength in the days that are to come. They will be difficult without a doubt. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. May you find peace in knowing that he was a true hero.
Sincerely, Amy Denzinger Cook and family

"I would say that we are sojourners here on earth, just passing through. Any work we do on this side of that Work we do is temporary, slight, fleeting and the worry and burden and hardship and sorrow and suffering on this side is not to be mentioned or considering the GLORY THAT WAITS FOR US ON THE OTHER SIDE. ~John Piper.
Russel, I do/did not know you; however, you touched my heart. God bless you. My heart breaks for you and your family. Our life on earth is temporary and fleeting, our moments here are to be used as preparation for the sweet road to heaven. During your short 23 years on this earth, you have made your mark, and now all this glory waits for you in eternity.
May you rest in peace, handsome gentleman.

After hearing about the shooting, all three officers were in my thoughts and prayers. It is such a shame that Officer Timoshenko's injuries were so great he couldn't overcome them. My thoughts and prayers are now with the family, friends, and the NYPD. Rest in Peace Russel. You will never be forgotten.

My sympathies to Officer Timoshenko's family, colleagues and friends. I was ready to get on the NYPD in '74 when they laid off thousands of officer. I gladly would have traded places with Patrolman Timoshenko that fateful day. May he rest in peace especially knowing the perps will spend the rest of their lives in jail. Too bad New York doesn't have the death penalty. God bless you Officer Timoshenko.
