Officer Kozminiski,
After reading what happened to you, I was taken back to 5-24-06 when he responded to a call where a man was threating to shoot people at the scene and took cover on the side of the house. He also was shot in the head and died of his wounds after arriving at the hospital. You both left behind a 3-year old child.
Your actions are nothing less than heroic and you legacy will forever be honored by your fellow officers throughout the State of Michigan.
To your fellow officers who survive you - The pain never gets easier but try and find comfort knowing that your friend and co-worker is now watching and protecting you from above. He will continue to walk his beat in heaven with Corporal Jason Makowski (dearborn heights p.d.). He is in a better place and is now resting in peace.
GODS SPEED - REST EASY OFFICER....

Officer Kozminski,
My family and I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to another hero. Like too many other heroes, you left us entirely too soon. We thank you for your bravery, your honesty and your integrity. More importantly we thank you for the sacrifices you made in selflessly serving our community. Only those of us who have served fully understand the sacrifices we make to protect our families, friends, and fellow citizens. By and large these sacrifices pale in comparison to your ultimate sacrifice. God bless you and your family. You are in our prayers. Rest is peace hero, your watch is over...we will take the watch from here.
Final Inspection
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've cried unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had to much,
but if you don't I'll understand.
There was silence all around the Throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Policeman,
you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you've done your time in Hell."
