It is at times like these that I am both ashamed as well as proud to live in Michigan. Ashamed because there are people here that would take the life of a young father, just because he was doing his job. Proud because there are young men like you who know that there are no promises, but hit the streets everyday, to protect and to serve. May your light shine forever.

I cried with your family and your comrades today Officer Kozminski. I watched your funeral on WOODTV8 and I cried. I asked God, "why"? so many times. The answer lies in faith. Only God knows why, and some day He will tell us why. We have to wait until our time, however. God is perfect and His plan is perfect, even though we may question it.

I have a much more profound respect for all police officers everywhere. I too, will continue to pray for your entire family, and for the brave men and women of the police force who go to their jobs daily, I will pray that God will keep them from harm. I hope to meet you some day, in Heaven. You truly are a hero and I salute you.

When I was called to the scene of my daughter's car accident, I was relieved she nor any others were injured. As a parent of a new driver of whom was clearly at fault, I was visibly nervous, angry, and disappointed. When I arrived at the scene, I was greeted by a very kind and empathetic officer, who told me he would not be ticketed my daughter, because she felt bad enough. He stayed there for awhile to write his report. He eventually walked back over to us and once again, offered some encouragement, not so much with a lot of talk, but just a show of concern which was very comforting and never forgotten. That Officer was Bob Kozminski. I told many of the kindness he showed. I remember thinking "what a nice young man and police officer."
I also remember noticing he had the most striking blue eyes and such a look of modesty and sincerity. When I saw the news showing the picture of officer Bob Kaminski, I was not certain if that was in fact him. I then saw a photo of his young daughter and he and I quickly realized it was the same young man who was there for my daughter and I.

My heart aches for his family and I cannot stop feeling like it is all so senseless. I want his family to know that even strangers who only met Officer Kozminski briefly were left with a very positive and permanent image of a wonderful young Man and Police Officer.

God Bless,

I only had a chance to meet Officer Kozminski one time in my life. It was on the day that my husband of 26 years passed away at the wheel of the car. When I got to the scene of his death I was unaware that he had passed away. Officer Kozminski was there. When I heard the news Officer Kozminski was so very kind and gentle to me. He never knew how much it meant to me the way he drove my car home for me and the way his words of sympathy meant so much to me at the time. It is a time in my life I will never forget and Officer Kozminski is a person whom I crossed paths with who will always leave a lasting impression on me. I am saddened by the death of Officer Kozminski. He is and will always be a shining star of the Grand Rapids Police Force.

My prayers for strength and peace go out to Officer Kozminski's family and friends.

Thank God for the men and women who risk their lives day in and day out so that we may live and enjoy time with our family more peacefully in our neighborhoods. It is these men and women who are there when we are in desperate need for protection. It is these men and women who show up when we call 911. It is these men and women who are the REAL heroes in our world.

God's Blessing and protection to all who are still on their watch.

As the wife of an officer, I have had many a sleepless night myself worrying if this could be the last time I will see my loving husband. I feel for your entire family having to go through the worst nightmare a family member of a police officer can realize. Each officer doing what it takes to protect us all and in doing so, putting themselves in potential danger each and every day--they are true guardian angels. Please accept our condolences for your tragic loss and know that our heartfelt wishes go out to you during this difficult time. May GOD give your family the strength to endure.
