Josh,
We are not sure what to say. We were listening and hoping that night you would be ok. But God had differnt plans for you. We will never understand the cost of taking a life such as yours. I have worked with and even trained a Deputy that was in the academy with you. And even in a tragedy like this, just to mention your name, he SMILES. You just need to know the impact you had on your Academy class, and even the staff. I was a District away from you but having worked in the 2nd I know they ALL are hurting and missing you!
We will meet again, Rest Easy Brother!

Your determination and fulfillment of dreams at your age were an inspiration to me prior to this tragesy. You are a now a hero and will forever be remembered by all. I recall conversations of your eagerness to get your patrol car and to be on your own. To Jessica and the rest of your family..my heart and prayers to you all. Josh, you are truly a hero. I am honored to have known you!
God Bless, April Alexander

"Final Call"
An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.
Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

Josh,
I am forever proud to call you nephew and brother. I wish that I had your courage and integrity. You are a better officer than I could ever hope to be. You are truly one of the family. If I ever gave you a rough time it was only because I was trying to protect you and J from the inherent dangers of the job. One day I will be able to tell you that face to face. Until that time you will be in my thoughts and prayers. God speed "skinny".
Love,
