Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Joshua Everett Norris

Dep Norris,
I too just watched your bio on Rookies and was honored to be able to learn about you in the brief time it showed you. Thank you for what you did for your community and the law enforcement brotherhood. May you never be forgotten and everyone that sees your episode realize that you are a hero. My prayers are with you and your family.

Yesterday my husband and I watched A & E Rookies. We are parents of a rookie still in his probationary period, when we saw Josh's profile same age, same body build, same ambitions as my son we were glued to the TV. The ending took us by suprise. Sleep didn't come all night but the tears for Josh and his family haven't stopped yet. I don't think we will ever forget even tho we've never met. God bless you Josh.

Me and my boyfriend watched you on "Rookies" last night. He wants to be a police officer too. You're story touched my heart. I was so touched and inspired by your love and dedication for your job. It absolutely broke my heart to hear your story. I cannot stop thinking or crying about it. You are and will always be a hero. My heart breaks for your family, fiancee, co-workers, and friends. You will all be in my prayers tonight. God Bless you your family, fiancee, and fellow police officers.

Josh, I watched your story tonight on A&E Rookies. It was a proud moment to watch your FTO hand you the keys to his old patrol vehicle. You could see the emotion in you wanting to lash out in excitment, yet you kept it inside. I was excited for you. To watch the end of the show was a total shocker. From my wife and I, GOD SPEED BROTHER.

Josh, your incredible story has touched my family so deeply. We have replayed the show on "Rookies" and the Youtube memorial several times and I have to admit, I had a good cry about you. I have 3 teenage sons, one who would like to be a police officer someday. You are an inspiration to all young men and women. I wish they could play that show at schools all across this nation. A young man fights for his dreams and gives up his life so that we can be safe. You are and always will be a hero. God bless your family and friends and may you always wear your blues in heaven. Josh,

I just finished watching the "Rookies" that I recorded last night. I have been a police officer for about 2 years and I know that my job is a dangerous one. I sit here and think of all the men and women who have made that ultimate sacrifice doing the job that they love, and know that if the same thing were to happen to me that I would die doing what I loved.

Man, I do not know you, but just wanted to write this to let you know that we have not forgotten, nor will we ever forget your sacrifice. Because of your life, I have reminded myself that every call that I go on could be my last call!

May God continue to bless your department and be with your family! Don't have too much fun in Heaven! Take time out to watch over all of the rest of your brothers and sisters in law enforcement and we will all owe you one when we get there!

With Much Respect,

Officer John Thompson

Josh,

I was excited to watch "Rookies" last night, only to be quickly saddened by your untimely demise. I was so excited for you when they gave you the key to your car. You reminded me of myself when I first started. I have no doubt you would have been and were a great brother in blue. Thank you for sharing a few days of your life with us. Your story has touched many lives and personally changed mine. God bless you brother and thank you for your sacrifice. May god be with your family at home, and family in blue! RIP brother...

Josh, I never knew you or your story until last night. I was watching "the Rookies" and your episode was on. I watched the whole show, and enjoyed being able to see your agency and your training. I have been a field training officer for 16 years and found myself thinking the same things your FTO's were narrating in the series, and was really pulling for your success which you had. Then the ending came and I felt such a loss after knowing you for such a short time.

Thank you Deputy Norris for your service. I am so sorry it ended so soon but I know you made a difference in your agency and your community during it. My prayers are with you, your family, and your department. You will never be forgotten.

I just saw your episode of "The Rookies" truly one of the most tragic things I have ever heard. You were just starting your career but it is not over yet...I know now that you are watching over all officers.

I make it a promise to you that I will stop by your panel on the Law Enforcement Memorial when I am in Washington D.C. this year to pay my respects. I will also have a beer for you at tent city to celebrate the life you led

I saw the television show, and the video on U Tube. It was hard to watch. Your FTO was as good as they get and will feel this the rest of his life. I pray for you, and pray for him as well. May you rest in peace.
