Reflections for Master Trooper David Edward Rich

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Trooper Rich, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

There are no words that will ever bring complete comfort and resolution to this senseless act. Trooper Rich exemplified what it was to be the best in law enforcement. He followed in his father and brother's foot steps of being one of Indiana's finest. Trooper Rich you have made difference in many lives and you will never be forgotten. May God comfort you in Heaven and keep your family safe. Psalm 91:1

I commend Trooper Rich for everything he has done to make this a better world in which to live. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for us all. My prayers are with the Rich family and I know they are very proud of what Trooper Rich has done. He was helping a fellow human when his life was snatched away from us. Apparently helping others was Trooper Rich's way of serving his God. Trooper Rich, your tour of duty os now over, Rest in Peace, brother.

When a fellow officer's life has been taken doing a job that he loves saddens all that wear the uniform. Through his life and actions many lives were touched, today we said goodbye to hero and this same day God welcomed one home.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Master Trooper Rich's family. As it closes in on my Brother-in-Law's memorial this July 8th, this brings another sad day to remember. Deputy Sheriff Gene Gregory of Seminole County Fl paid the ultimate price July 8th 1998 and he is very missed here as Master Trooper Rich is. It is said that time heals all, but I wonder just how much time it will take as my heart still aches each time a LEO pays the price. Rest easy Master Trooper Rich and watch over all those left behind. You are a good man.
