My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. It isn't an easy thing when you lose someone, especially your spouse. Just remember that the pain does get easier even though right now you seem to not see how, but it does I promise.

"A brief moment of darkness
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.
Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.
All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.
I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.
I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.
A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.
Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine.
To the family, friends and all who knew Sheriff Cook, we will keep you all in our prayers and thoughts. During the dark times ahead we hope that the words here at this memorial will give you some sort of comfort. To lose anyone is horrific, but when someone else causes that person to die, it shows they have to concern for life.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Cook. Rest in peace, sir, for your dedication and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
I am certain that law enforcement officers everywhere will not rest until the motorcyclist who caused your death is caught and brought to justice.

You will never be forgotten. It is such a shame a brother had to die for something so childish and senseless. Keep watching over and protecting us.

Deputy Cook, "thank you" seems so inadequate to express the gratitude that needs to be expressed. But I do thank you sir! You made the ultimate sacrifice. You are a hero who will not be forgotten. To the Cook family, you have my deepest sympathies and my prayers. To the BCSO family, be safe as you continue your patrol. Romans 13:4.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"
It had been 28 years since our department lost a fellow officer, and this month we lost two deputies in less than a week to auto accident and severe weather. We strive to seek the answer to the question of "Why", but we will probably never know the answer. My wife and I will have Deputy cook in our prayers and also his family.
