Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Cook. Deputy Cook made the ultimate sacrifice for the community, everyone should be very proud
of him.
We lost our officer in a automobile accident, on the way to help a fellow officer. It is a very difficult time, and it seems like you will never be able to make it through it, however, each day still goes on, and you find that, you must try to, also. He will always be there in your hearts and your memories will help you, so very much.
Keep his memory alive for his two year old, he is now a daddy angel. He will be watching over his family, and co-workers as the go out into their daily work shift to keep them safe on their beat. Again, we are so sorry for your loss!

All of us at some time have been on a traffic stop or other call and had someone blatantly violate the law to annoy us, etc. Deputy Cook was valiantly trying to catch up to the motorcycle and deal with that foolish suspect. Thank you, sir, for your service and dedication to the citizens of Buchanan County! I sincerely hope the motorcyclist is found out and prosecuted severely.

It is unconscionable that someone would think taunting an officer while he is performing his duty...and is already in a precarious situation on the side of the road...can willfully demonstrate such irresponsible behavior without any regard for what his actions can cause.

This cyclist is responsible for a terrible tragedy that has affected forever the lives of a family he never knew or considered. I do not believe that excuses him and I hope he is found and held accountable for what his poor judgment led to.

My sincere condolences to Mrs. Cook and her child. To the parents, extended family, friends and all those whose lives he touched, I am sorry for your loss.

This fine young man was taken much too soon...my prayer is that he will watch over his family from that far better place and that as you hold his memory in your hearts...you will sense his spirit is still with you and that someday you all will be reunited again.

God grant you the graces needed as you cope with this untimely and devastating loss.

May God's perpetual light shine upon the soul of Deputy Sheriff Charles Cook and may he rest in His eternal peace for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving his community.

God's blessings on all of you...

With my deepest sympathy,

I AM A WARRIOR
by Jon F. Hooper

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now, I stand with God.

Rest in Peace Brother, you performed admirably.

REST IN PEACE.

DEPUTY CHIEF E.J. MORRIS

June 29, 2007

I was notified by phone of your accident at 7 am Saturday morning. You have been in many thoughts and prayers ever since. I got the call at 8:30 pm Thursday that you had passed away just a few minutes before. It is hard when any brother or sister in law enforcement is killed in the line of duty. It is especially difficult when we have close personal and professional ties with the law enforcement agency that is affected. We all mourn your death Charlie, but we honor you in death for doing the job that law enforcement officers choose to do. "Greater love hath no man, than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 Charlie was assisting another law enforcement officer when he was killed, he did what we all would have done, he went to their call for assistance!

May the Grace and Peace of God be with your family, friends, Sheriff Mike Strong, the members of the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department and all the people you touched during your short time here on earth. God Speed Charlie, you are home now, we will take the watch from here!
