Anderson family, I am sincerely sorrowful over the loss of this dear man. Once again I am sickened by the pervasive evil that steals the lives of good and honorable men like Officer Anderson. I pray that you will feel God's sustaining presence during the days, weeks, and months ahead.

You and your family will remain in our hearts, minds, and prayers. You will be missed, but never forgotten. A true hero.

Correctional Officer's Prayer:

Lord, we ask for courage...
Courage to face and conquer our own fears.
Courage to take us where others will not go

We ask for strength...
Strength of body to protect others
Strength of spirit to lead others.

We ask for dedication...
Dedication to our job, to do it well.
Dedication to our community, to keep it safe.

Give us, Lord, concern
For all those who trust us
And compassion for those who need us.

And please, Lord, through it all...
Be at our side.

Godspeed to you, CO Anderson. I envy no LEO--whether s/he works a street beat, monitors those out on parole/probation, or stands in a prison doorway--their jobs. You go to work every day, knowing something will go wrong eventually. You hope it's not you. You will trade places with someone else if it is them, no questions asked. I am glad to see the outpouring of love from across the law enforcement community for you and your family. It is largely a thankless job you do. I am just so sorry that so much was taken from you and all those that know and love you. The color of your uniform, the arsenal you did or did not carry, the size of your beat doesn't matter. You were there to protect us, and I thank you, and I wish I'd had a chance to tell you before. Peace be with you.

My most sincere condolences to the wife and children of Corrections Officer Stephen Anderson, his extended family, and to all who knew him.

In reading the acoount of how he was lost, after so many years of service, one has great difficulty in understanding God's plan for each of us. I know there is evil in this world and I guess that is the explanation for why bad thngs happen to good people...but it is so unjust and sad...and I am so sorry for your family.

I will keep all of you in my prayers as you cope with this tragic and untimely loss.

May justice be served quickly so that you can focus on the mourning of your loved one with the hope of finding whatever peace you can as you continue on without Officer Anderson's physical presence. Know that he will be with you alive in spirit, watching over your family from a far better place. He will never be forgotten so long as there are those who will hold his memory in their hearts...and one day you will all be reunited again. God's blessings on all of you.

May God's perpetual light shine upon the soul of Officer Anderson and may he rest in His eternal peace for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving his community.

With my very deepest sympathy...
