Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Corporal Scott Wheeler

Final Call

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do,
Little Did He Know This One Is Dressed In Blue.
Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
Follow Me Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way.
Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through.
Come Hand Your Hat Besides Mine. I'm A Cop Too.

I know Luke has taken your hand and welcomed you in the rightfully earned place in heaven.

Scott,
I realize you are in a better place and are no longer suffering. However, it is still difficult to come to realize that you are gone. I was Scott's Field Training Officer for HCPD. He was a hard working (always volunteering for OT positions) Police Officer who glowed with passion for the job. I still have the Dale Jr shirt that you asked me to pick-up for you at the Dover Race two weeks ago. This will always remind me of you!
God Bless and looking forward to seeing you again one day.
Love,
Christian

"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

Scott Wheeler was a friend of mine back in high school, I will miss him dearly. He had a great smile and personality. He was all around a great guy, who could easily bring a smile to your face. My thoughts and prayers are with scotts family and friends. Scott will be missed by many. Rest in peace scott, we all love you.

Scott,

I can't believe that when I spoke with you on the phone on Friday night it would be the last time I heard your voice. I will never forget your infectious laugh and your bad impersonations. I can still remember when you were not allowed into Heinz field becuase you insisted on wearing your spiked Raiders shoulder pads. You were the hardest worker I have ever met and embodied what an Officer should strive to be like. You will truly be missed by all of your brothers in blue. I am so thankful I was able to know you. You will never be forgotten and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest easy brother.

Officer Wheeler,

We will never forget your sacrafice. From reading your reflections you died doing a job you loved and you made people smile doing it. A rare combination indeed. To my brothers and sisters in blue in HCPD and to Officer Wheeler's family you will be in all our prayers.

I found this poem and wanted to share with everyone.

"The Thin Blue Line"

There is a line
the color of the sky
on a clear afternoon
There is a line
the hue of the ocean on a bright sunny day
There is a line
the purest shade of a newborn's eyes
awakening for the first time
There is a line
that protects us from harm
in all we do
wether day or night
There is a line
no one can penetrate
no one can alleviate
There is a line
made of those who choose
to follow a calling many do not hear
and still more do not comprehend
They choose to walk
the path of fear, hate, and mistrust
taken by so few
but marked by so many
And when one leaves this line
they leave a legacy
but the line does not break
for the remaining must still protect
There may be emptiness
a loss, or sadness
but never a hole
not in this line
This line that holds
the ghosts of the souls who have gone
and the sould of the ghosts who will be
The Thin Blue Line

Scott,
Even though I didn't have the chance to work with you a lot. The times I did work with you, made me wish I got to work with you more. You will always be our brother and always a true hero to everyone. We all miss you. May God bless all of your family, and friends.

Scott-
Man the nights we hung out on Rowanberry...feels like last weekend! You always had a great sense of humor. I remember seeing you and Tracy hanging out on Rowanberry and could tell how much you cared for her.
This place is hurting...I'm not even sure it has really sunk in yet. These next two days are going to be even tougher. I think that your laugh and smile will help me to get through the service. I never imagined that this could happen. We always tell ourselves that it can happen, but not to one of ours. You were the best this department had to offer. I don't remember ever hearing you say a bad thing about someone else. You worked hard and played hard!
You were a great guy and we are all going to miss ya! We will look out for Tracy, Mike and your parents....you look out for all of us!

God Bless You!

Scott it hurts so much. I can't beleive you have left us. The only thing that gets me through this, is knowing you are being held in our Lord's arms. I think of you and the tears start. It hurts so much. I saw your car today at the station, and the tears started. I saw your mailbox at the station, and the tears started. We will miss you so much Scott.

Rest in peace brother.

Scott,
I will miss you. I am so glad that I had the chance to talk with you only days before this had happened. You were a great cop to with and a great friend. I will miss your laugh and most of all not having you to pick on for being a Raiders fan. Rest in peace and know you will always have a place in my heart.

God bless you Scott. Even though we worked opposite on night shift I remember the stories people have told me about you and made me laugh. Then the first time I met you at Ravens stadium while playing the Giants and saw you dressed out in your Raiders outfit. I knew right then the dedication that was in your heart for your team. Then seeing you on the job knowing that dedication was even greater for "our" team. That crazy laugh and unique smile always brought the same to people you met. The citizens of Maryland and Howard County have no idea what they have lost.

Scott one day we will meet again in Heaven and I would be honored to stand and walk the beat with you.
