Chris,

As I sit here and write this, I reflect on the first time we met at the State Fair. You were the warmest of warm and you were open like a book. You answered questions of the kids around you, at their level. You truly showed your compassion, and your love of the job.

As a Motor Man, you took an even greater risk than those whom also wear the uniform. Noone looks for motorcycles, and knowing this, you still strapped on the helmet every day. Nothing less than admiration can be sent your way.

Though I sit here and write this with a heavy heart, I know you are in a much better place. As you join your fellow Motor Men for one last ride, we will not cry in sadness for the loss of a great man, we will cry in happiness, for the memories you have left us with.

There are more than angels watching over us, I believe.

As I leave you now, knowing what you have meant to so many people, and what they have meant to you, I leave you with these last words:

The cry of the city like a siren's song
Wailing over the rooftops the whole night long
Saw a shooting star like a diamond in the sky
Must be someone's soul passing by

These are the streets
Where we used to run where your Papa's from
These are the days
Where you become what you become
These are the streets
Where the story's told
The truth unfolds
Darkness settles in

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so I can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength
To carry on, carry on

Don't wanna be a hero
Just an everyday man
Trying to do the job the very best he can
But now it's like living on borrowed time
Out on the rim, over the line
Always tempting fate like a game of chance
Never wanna stick around to the very last dance
Sometimes I stumble and take a hard fall
Loose hold your grip off the wall

Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so I can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength
To carry on, carry on

All my best wishes and prayers brother,

Ian Zlotkin
EMT-B
