Dad I just thought i would let you know again how much I love and miss you. I want you to know how proud I have always been to have you for my father and how much I appreciate all you taught me about police work and the example you set for me and my brothers about being good person. Though you were taken away from us I am thankful for the 37 years I had you on this earth. You will always be in my heart. I Love you Dad,

Family, friends and co-workers of Cheif Lacy, , I know how sad you are today , for you see , I have been in your shoes. Shock, disbelief, anger are just a few of the emotions you must be feeling. The worse for me was hate, I never had felt hate for anyone before Garys murder, I found myself hating this man that took Gary away from all of us, I felt I could kill that "man" with my bare hands...if given the chance. During the trail I kept looking at that killers hands thinking those are the hands that picked up the gun that took Garys life....It has taken alot of time and prayer to get over ........ no you never get over it, it has taken time and prayer to get to the point were this the loss of Gary is bearable.... Thank you Cheif Lacy for your ultimate sacarfice....In memory of Gary Kidwell

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Clinton, LA Police Department

I heard of this memorial site only recently due to the death of one of our officers killed in the line of duty.As a Police dispatcher, we pray for the end of our shifts, for all our officers to return to the station 10-4. May God hold you safely in his arms, forever 10-4 in the Heavens above. I pray for your family, friends, and fellow brother and sister officers as they mourn your loss. "A Hero is not a Hero by their death, but by how they lived their lives."You gave the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our citizens. God Bless you always!
