Today in the sun I bid him farewell
A Man, A Hero, I knew very well
Like many before him that answered the call
Wearing the badge, he was destined to fall
Though by choice a long life and a happy old age
would he have chosen had he written the page
But the office he chose never promised long life
Just half of his salery for his child and his wife
He went without fear into the darkness of night
Bringing comfort to some
To some others ~ light
Easing their pain and calming their fears
He did his duty never asking for cheers
A husband, a cop, he answered the call
We bid him fairwell
For he gave his all
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter. Thank you Officer McCoy for all you did to serve your community.

Jeff was a good cop, a great man, an awesome dad, and God fearing man. I know he is with the Lord, and my prayers go out to his daughter and wife. He will be missed very much. He policed with his heart, and I know many citizens in Abilene were changed by his work.
