There is nothing that one can say that is adequate to express the feelings of sadness at a time like this. However, it is very obvious by the remarks and comments left by those who knew this man personally that Officer Jeff McCoy was a servant of our Lord and Savior. What more can one live for? That is reason to rejoice.
I would like for the family, friends and co-workers to know that there are folks all across this country that care very deeply and will lift you up in prayer before the Almighty in the coming days. On the morning of June 5, 2007 the forces of evil claimed yet another person who had dedicated his life to this profession. Every person who wears, or has worn a badge, knows and understands the feeling of loss when a fellow officer is called home. We honor those who have fallen by continuing to do the job we are sworn to do, and in the end, good will triumph. The sacrifices made by those brave men and women in the past, and even those who will undoubtedly follow in the future, will not have died in vain. Rest in peace Jeff.

Thoughts and prayers sent from our family to yours Officer McCoy. When I saw the date of your untimely passing, memories of our horrific loss came pouring over me. There are no words to lessen this pain your loved ones bear, but perhaps knowing that they are not alone in their grief will guide them through the next few days. Jeff will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was a very strong man and was extremely passionate about his faith in the Lord. I had the honor of working with Jeff on many different occasions, with the most memorable being that he was my FTO in the second phase of field training. The last time I worked with Jeff was on May 29th 2007. We spent a great deal of time talking that night about various things, but the most common topic in all of our recent conversations including that night was his faith. He was un-ashamed of this, and I will always cherish the conversations that we had. I learned many lessons for life both on and off duty from him, and they will never be forgotten.

Jeff, I have laughed while I cried thinking about the time I spent with you watching over me. I know that you were with me in the patrol car once again early this morning. You will never be forgotten Brother.

Jeff, you were a loving father and husband and spoke of how much you loved your family. You were a dedicated Officer and took extra time to let the citizens of Abilene know you cared and were wanting to help them with the problems at hand. You were a good friend who was willing to help with whatever I needed help with, weather it was at work or helping me with building a porch on my house. You never expected anything in return.
