Ty – I just wanted to thank you one more time for going beyond the line of duty as a Game Warden, Man and most of all, Friend. Remember whenever you had just moved to Johnson County and I called you claiming to see a suspicious hunter? You came out and we looked for hours and hours just waiting to see if they returned. Nothing happened and I stated “I hope you didn’t have any big plans tonight”. Your response was “plans or not, if you needed me I will be here – don’t worry about it”. Then I found out later that your family was here in town visiting you for the first time here in Johnson County and I had gotten you get up from dinner on your day off! That is the kind of Man/Hero you are and will always be. I only knew you for a short time but want to thank you for being part of our lives. May you make heaven a better place for those of us left behind. I will smile when I remember the times I would tell you what the people were saying at the Café/Sale Barn – “Did you see the size of the new Game Warden”……. May God be with the Patterson family.

The policeman stood and face God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
