A year and 1 day later we lose another oficer in the line of duty - You share the same name and cause of death as Cpl. Makowski (Dearborn Heights, MI). May you rest in peace Officer West. "A Part Of America Died",
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

I always come here to this memorial to pay tribute to our fallen officers, and in hopes that there will not be another name added to an all ready long list.
Bless the family, loved ones, and all who knew Officer West, in this time of such tragedy. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. At this time of such tragedy there are no words that can really tell how we all feel at this horrible and tragic lost, even though we do not know him. Yet we do know him because there isn't a day goes by that we don't see his brothers and sisters in the field trying to keep us safe and protected as well as they can.
It is such a sad thing to know people out there do not kgive one thought of taking another person's life.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL

It's never easy;

It's never easy for those left behind; but when you lose someone senselessly and unexpectedly, we all feel the shock.

May it help to know how many people share your sorrow, and stand with you in your time of need.

We all stand with you in your time of need.
