Dear Family,
How hard this must have been for you. Please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers. It's hard enough when we lose an officer, but for you to have to go through the agony of not knowing where your loved one was, I'm so sorry. Those who commited this horrible act, don't deserve a trial. I couldn't be a judge when the case involved an Officer trying to protect us. I would simply sentence them to death without a second thought. How it angers me when the life of a Hero is taken.
Constable Bailey, you will remane alive in our hearts forever. May you rest in the arms of God. Thank you for your service to the great state of South Carolina and your Country. Keep watch over your loved ones left behind and your brothers and sisters in Blue.
Sincere Condolences, Mother-in-law of: Sgt Jeff Hewitt

This man had served 43 years in law enforcement. What a commitment to his community! Remember him not for the way he died, but how he lived...as a true hero! RIP, Constable Bailey! You've earned your place in God's presence.

What a tragedy. I'd been following the case all week, hoping for the best. Sadly you were taken from us. But at least you've been found and those bottom-feeders responsible for this have been caught. May God grant peace to your family and department during this terrible time.

My heart goes out to the family of Constable Bailey. He must have loved the law enforcement to have served so many years. We all know when a law enforcement officers life is taken in the line of duty that person has lived his life to the fullest and died doing what they loved.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Constable Bailey.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line

You are the true epitome of the thin blue line.
To give 38 yrs in active service and then when most enjoy their retirement you continue to serve on an unpaid, volunteer basis protecting the innocent. You have gone above and beyond any call of duty........Our thoughts and prayers are with you my brother. Rest in peace, You have more than earned your place in heaven.

This is about as low as it gets. Just when we feel we are getting the upper hand on the thugs out here, something this horrific happens. This is just senseless. This HERO spent the better part of his entire life protecting and serving the people of this great nation. It is time we stand up and fight so this never happens again. God Bless Constable Bailey, his family and fellow co-workers. Rest in peace and let us "take over" from here.

I want to thank all of my brothers and sisters who looked for my father-in-law..He was not only my father-in-law,he was my partner,my brother in blue but most of all he was my friend. My only regret is that I was not his partner that night..Your reflections are very moving to the family, they did not know that he was loved so much.I explained to them that we are all brothers and sisters behind the badge and that we hurt when one of us answers the last radio call......Thank you all

We, too, followed this story as it unfolded, while working third shift. Although completely across the State, we kept hoping for good news either from the media, or telecommunications. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family. I also pray your friends and family can find comfort in the kind and generous words left here by so many.
