From our family to each and everyone of the law enforcements officer who have shown there support through the words of encouragement that you have posted here,
We as a family are still waiting for that booming voice to walk in the house and say, "What's up cuz, unc, or auntie." Words will never be able to describe our feelings for Marvin and the void that now consumes our family. Marvin from big city Miami to Big Country Georgia Boy. My father was never around so I leaned on my uncles and Marvin for support or lessons on how to be a man, he was an excellent teacher and mentor. I'm just rambling right now because I don't know what to say, all I know is that I miss him dearly. We lived a mile away from one another, so he was easily accessible when I needed him; I don't have that anymore an it hurts like crazy.
Big cuz, I love you and will do whatever it takes to pick up the slack in your household.
Rest in Peace,
We all love amd miss you!

Cousin of Marvin Scarlett

I wish your fellow officers could have seen the wonderful person that you were at North Miami Senior High. Your mother did such a great job raising you to become the wonderful man that you were. She should be so proud. It doesn't surprise me that you gave your life trying to help someone else.
I will always remember you and Ed Jackson driving your mom's muscle car to my house to watch MTV. Even then, we could see the reflections of the wonderful man you would become.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Marvin's family. I will keep you in my prayers

A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.
