Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Frank Fabiano, Jr.
Many of our officers were there at your funeral and many, many tears were shed mourning your loss. There are not words to say how your tragic death has impacted each of us. We will continue fighting the evil that has taken you from the lives of your family; we know you would have wanted it this way.
Bless you, your family, and your agency. We are eternally grateful for your service.
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
Respectfully submitted on behalf of my department,
Officer Matthew Lewek
Menomonee Falls (WI) Police Department

Frank, you truly were a kind person which is a rarity given the nature of this job. No matter what happened and no matter how long you were on this job, you remained a kind, polite person. I remember asking you a few weeks before your death if you were going to live out your career on 3rd shift and you just smiled and said "yes". Little did I know how true those words were going to be. You are a true hero and you paid the ultimate price. We often take for granted what we do until something like this happens. The question is, why do bad things like this happen to good people? I know God has a plan for all of us and that is the only reasonable way to explain why you were taken from us. I will always remember you and I will always hold the honor I felt the day I worked your funeral and gave you a final salute. May God Bless you in Heaven and watch over your family and may you rest in peace brother Frank.

Family and friends,
I am so sorry for your loss. I empathize with you in truth, for we lost one of our own SC lawmen two years ago to the day, my son-in-law Jon. My prayers are with you.

I never got to meet Deputy Sheriff Frank Fabiano Jr. But as I sat hearing the news of the senseless murder of this officer, to something as simple as a traffic stop, my heart broke for all who did know him.
My son was fortunate to have a Kenosha officer, to which I cannot remember his name at this moment, when he had his name drawn for Shop with a Cop a few years back from Bain School. The police officer made such an impression on my son, Timmy, that he says he would like to join the Army and then become a police officer.
When he too heard of Officer Fabiano's murder, he hoped it wasn't his friend. When I told him it wasn't that police officer, he then put his head down and asked me why did this have to happen to THIS officer? I could only tell him I didn't know. He was still hurt and then asked if they caught the person who killed him, and I told him yes. My son could only breath a sigh of relief and then looked me in the eye and said that he still would like to be a police officer because he wants to get "all the bad people who like to hurt the police off the street and put in jail".
Thank you Officer Fabiano for not only protecting Kenosha, but for being the kind of police officer that,if only after your death, my son looks up to as not only a hero, but as someone my son could say he would like to be like. God bless and guide your Wife and daughter to a road to where healing can begin and pain no longer a burden. Take care

I never got the chance to meet or work with Frank, but I did attend the funeral. I was never so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from fellow officers. I have never been brought to feel so much emotion for someone who I never knew. I am still brought to tears when I think of hearing that haunting sound of the dispatcher making the final call. I just hope that with all of the people and school children that we passed that they now have a greater respect for what law enforcement is about and the sacrafices that they make to keep us safe.
I think it was said best by a message that that was sprayed on a window of a little shop that we passed on the way to the cemetery, "Thank You Deputy Sheriff Fabiano, Rest In Peace".

For Deputy Frank Fabiano Jr. and all who knew, loved and respected him; In technical terms I was Frank's first shift commander when he entered service at the KSD. We worked together for several years until I moved on to work in the Detentions Division. Frank was all the things that people have said of him...friendly, caring, honest, great husband and father, a hero, and of course as good at the game of golf as most anyone I have personally known. But what has not been said is that Frank was something more, something hard to maintain after his years of service: Frank was kind. He conducted himself professionally always operating above board and, he was kind. He progressed and matured in his chosen profession and, he was kind. He chose to remain in the field and on a work shift that is very difficult and dangerous to navigate and, he remained kind. He accepted direction, counsel and suggestion as well as anyone I have ever supervised and still, he remained kind. He was kind to those he protected as well as his colleagues. He was kind in his approach and delivery. In a profession that can harden personalities, create caustic speech and a cynical delivery, Frank Fabiano did not and would not submit to these by-products of years on the job, he always remained kind. Frank was a pleasure to know, and it was my privilege to work with him...I will miss him and my thoughts of him will always be kind.
With all my respect, Captain "Mac"

Frank, I as a Kenosha county citizen and a son of a deputy sheriff could not be more pleased with how you served your county, my dad often told the story of how back in August of 1991 when you took the call for him in Paddock Lake which resulted in your arm being badly cut up from flying shrapnel, I would like to thank you for taking that call, because who knows if something much worse could have become of that incident had he taken it, you told him you had it and that way he was able to get home in time to give his two young sons a hug and let them know that he got home safely before they fell in to a deep sleep. You are a true hero Frank for everything you did and everything you stood for. I hope to talk to you someday in heaven and thanks again for all your sacrifices, God bless you.

I didn't know frank all that well. Weather I was working with him on Fire/Rescue calls in the county, seeing him in the halls at the PSB, or having him on 2nd shift as I dispatched, it always was a pleasent experience. As i sit here, hundreds of miles away from my home town, i read the other reflections left on this page. They all have said the same thing, that he was always pleasent to work with, very friendly with co-workers, staff, anyone having a run in with him. I believe this to be true. Frank - you will be missed, god bless you & everyone else who wears the same badge!

I never had the privilege of meeting Deputy Fabiano, but as a current police officer and former Marine myself, I feel confident that I can speak for his character. Frank was a member of two very elite fraternities....the US Marine Corps & Public Law Enforcement (kenosha co chapter). When I graduated from boot camp, one of my drill instructors told us "there will be wars, and in war Marines will die...but as a Marine you will live forever in the name of the corps". Frank may be gone from our world but every time you hear the Marine Corps hymn or see a Kenosha County Sheriff car pass by on patrol.....HE'S THERE!!

To the family members, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Fabiano:
The KCSD lost one really great man on May 16th in a horrible tragedy, and I know he will be greatly missed. Frank was the truest hero a department could ever ask for. I did not know him personally, but met him once when I was employed as a security officer at Kenosha Hospital in the late 90's, when I ran into him when he came in to follow-up with an investigation. He encouraged me to always keep my head up high, and pursue my dreams. Deputy Fabiano left an impression on me that I will always remember; he was the kind of person you could never forget. Thank you for being an outstanding Deputy.
I was born in Kenosha, and was resident for 23 years before moving to Chicago and then to Washington, DC. From the moment I met him, I knew that when he was out patrolling, the citizens of Kenosha County cold rest a little easier. May God Bless Frank and his family.
Brother, may you rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.

In my short 9 years with the department I had the opportunity to work with you. Whenever you brought in an arrest you were always professional, kind and respectful not only of the person that you had brought in but to myself and the staff at the jail. Everything that Sheriff Beth said of you was true. You gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve. I will always remember you and professional, respectful and kind manner that you did your job. You were the role model. Your wife and daughter and this county lost a much need role model in Frank. May God Bless you Frank, I will miss you.

Frank, I did not know you but it still does not change the sadness that I feel inside. I wanted to say thank you to you for making the ultimate sacrifice...your bravery will inspire me for the rest of my career. Since the senseless murder I have come to realize that I should not take for granted my time that I have left to spend with my friends and family. I now have been spending more time with my wife and son...no matter how tired I am after my midnight shift. All too often I have taken my time here on earth for granted and that I will arrive home safe at the end of my shift. But unfortunately being a Police Officer I guess we just never know. God Bless you and especially your Family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
