Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Frank Fabiano, Jr.
Amy and Angelina, in 2008 I made a promise to you that I would never forget your husband and father. I continue to think about Frank and will again ride for him this year in the Police Unity Tour. He will not be forgotten, ever.

Frank,
A few weeks ago I was in DC again and I visited your place on the wall. I thought about your family during my ride and while at your place on the wall and was quietly hoping I would get to see them again. I may have missed them, or maybe they were not able to make the trip either way, I was thinking of you. I know that will not bring any peace to your daughter and wife, but I swear that as long as I breathe, you will never be forgotten, ever.
You have been my inspiration to do better things, not only at home, but for our profession, I'm just so sorry it came at such a price.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I hold your family in thought and prayer today and pray for their solace.

Sir:
It was an honor to meet and spend the week with your wife and daughter at the Hilton this week in Washington, DC. They are holding up, well, and are truly a wonderful reflection and living testimony to your love and affection. We salute you, sir, and hope our Christopher and you walk your beats together, now, on streets of gold in Heaven.

I had the honor and privelege of meeting Deputy Fabiano's wife at Police Week in Washington, D.C. Please take some comfort in knowing that his service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten, even by those of us who were not fortunate enough to have met him.

On this day a year of firsts has passed for your family and friends. As I look at the time at it is 11:38pm, I can't imagine the heartache that comes with this time. Your brothers and sisters connected by the thin blue line also have the heartache of loss.
I have been told that time will heal all wounds - but there is no amount of time that will erase the scars on the hearts of your loved ones. The person responsible for your death has been sentenced.....and it is but a small relief to those whose only relief from grief is your return.
On this one year anniversary of you being welcomed into Heavens police force, you are honored. We will never forget!

Frank,
It's hard to believe that in about 1 1/2 hours it will be exactly 1 year since your last call. I still remember standing outside with my dog after my shift ended and hearing all the sirens. I remember thinking to myself that it must be something big. Shortly after that, my phone rang and pager went off. The first a call letting me know what had happened and the second the TRT callout. I remember the whole night like it was yesterday. I don't ever want to forget that night, in honor of you, and to remind myself and others how "the routine traffic stop," is never routine.
You will never be forgotten.

One year has passed and for some it seems like yesterday but for others a lifetime that they heard your voice, saw your smile and felt your warm touch. A day does not pass they one of your loved ones is thinking about you. The first thought when they wake in the morning is of you and that last thought before drifting off to sleep is of you. They will keep your memory alive by telling others about you. Continue to watch over them and those still on patrol. You have not been forgotten.

Good Morning Frank,
Us 3rd shifters sure do have a horrible sleep schedule, and for proof, here I am up midnight (on my off-day) while my wife kids are sound asleep. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that on Wednesday I leave for New Jersey. I will be riding in your memory in the Police Unity Tour. We are going to be traveling around 300 miles from New York to DC by bicycle. Ever since you passed, I was looking for a way to always remember the sacrifice you made, hopefully, I found it in this ride. I will ride with honor and pride, knowing that I am doing this for you and your family. God Bless you, Frank.

It was great that Justice was done last Friday, when the killer of this great man was found guilty. I look forward to meeting the family and co-workers of Deputy Fabiano at National Police Week in Washington DC this May. God Bless you in these trying times.

I read the verdict of your murderer's trial this morning and was so relieved to see that he was found guilty. I know that it was an extrememly difficult thing for your wife to have sat through and pray that she is able to find some peace knowing that this man will never hurt another innocent person again.

Frank,
I still see you sitting in roll call... 10 minutes early as usual. Always prepared for your shift, and a story about your sweet little angel asleep at home before we head out on the road. Grab your gear from the parking lot and off we were... to D D's... I still see you standing there. A memory I will never forget... especially the time you knocked the display stand over... it was funny. You taught me so much as a new Deputy Sheriff and I thank you for that. You will have a special place in my heart forever. You were the calm in the chaos... something that only comes from a seasoned veteran. i think of you every day I strap my duty gear on... you will never be forgotten. I send my condolences to your beautiful, strong wife and daughter. Rest in Peace in Peace Frank...

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Fabiano, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Frank, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Frank's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Frank's life was about so much more than the way he died. Frank will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Deputy Fabiano, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

I had the priveledge of getting to know Frank, and working with him on the road. One thing about Frank, he was always there to help out. As I was learning the aspects of the profession, I could always count on Frank for a bit of advise, to answer questions that I had, or just for a little moral support.
He never turned his back on a fellow warrior. He never tried to make himself look good at anothers expense. He was a role model not only for the comunity, but for the department.
I am glad to have served on the Kenosha Sheriff's Dept with Frank.
Tell others the story of how Frank lived...not how he passed.
My sincere condelences to Franks family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Frank Fabiano. I served with Frank as a USMC Military Police Officer at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. As I read the postings outlining Frank's career in law enforcement, I feel a sense of pride and honor that our paths had crossed so long ago.
To know of Frank's committment to country and community, his family and fellow officers, we can all share that feeling of pride and honor.

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
